Nola, While Flashy looks very fat, I don't think she looks extremely Pregnant. I would think she could have gotten bred in July. Here is Whinny at two weeks overdue. She was extremely fat! I wouldn't worry too much h.

Well Flashy is pregnant no doubt about that she is nice and round. So while we wait I thought I would share some pregnant pictures as well for you to compare with. As you know all mare are slightly differant but this will give you reference to what some folks may be talking about or maybe looking for. I always get picture happy around my pregnant mares ;D I find later it is helpful to others like now. quick flash back to pregnant Fantasy Her full udder with wax Then there is Salsa when she was pregnant with her last foal, I got her belly and udders all in one photo' ...LOL ;D How about a side shot You should know, with Salsa there is a considerable amount of edema under her belly. Which why she appears square and flat across the bottom of her belly. She also was checked by a vet when that photo was taken to treat the edema and I was told she still had another month at least to go before the foal was due, he was right the colt was born 3 weeks or so later.

nola, I am worried about you and Flashy....have not heard in a few days. You might think about having your vet out and palpate her to make sure everything is okay in there. We have had two mares come up as false pregnancies this year, have no idea why.

I know what you mean Michelle, we also had two false pregnancies. Both Kizzy and Saleen have come up "empty" so to speak.
Nola: Please keep us updated on Flash and try to take it easy. I am sure everything is alright.

Kelly, did they ultrasound in foal at all? or just did not tease after 18 days? Sycha ultrasounded in foal at 18 days and I did not have a 45 day one done - never had to before!

flashy was checked at 2 months along and their was a baby, today her teets are cone shaped nipples starting to pop. the milk is skimy looking in one and gold looking clear fluid in the other, saw what i swear was the baby moving this morning when I went to feed at 6:00 A.M. when the vet checked her at 2 months he stuck him whole arm in their, i thought he was going to climb in. Time will tell. she isn't on anything special for being pregnant, I will just keep feeding her, and when he comes out have him check her again.

Michelle, I had one mare untrasound in foal at 60 days ( I know... I was late checking back in... ) and come up empty in the spring. I had the vet out and cultured her and it came back dirty, so of course he prescribed antibiotics. I chose to put her on colloidal silver and then rebred and had a healthy colt, and subsequently a healthy filly. Sometimes things just happen. Or not. Kim

Kim, Do you remember if you bred her on a foal heat?

Michelle:
We do both ultra sound and blood work respectively. We have the vet coming out on Tuesday and both Kizzy and Saleen are booked for a full exam. Now with Kizzy, I am not surprised as she has only one ovary that works. Saleen was more of a surprise as she is usually the one that gets caught within the first heat. Both mares ran with Shelby for 3 to 4 months and did not come back into heat so we assumed them to be bred and followed up with testing.
I would not be surprised if Kizzy absorbed or even lost her foal as we still have not narrowed down the problem from the loss of her 2007 filly. We will know a lot more once the vet has had a chance to take some blood and run some tests on both of them. I have two very disappointed CKMR members who will now have to wait another year for their Kiger foal.

if by chance Flashy is not pregnant, I will not breed her again, I will have her trained so my granddaughter can ride her on the trail, or what ever it is she wants to do, Husband has mentioned something about breeding her in March to Riddle if not pregnant. for me no more for her, but it is his choice. Tell me what do you all think of a kiger paint Tabiono cross. she is black and white, he is a dun, could be a very nice looking foal.
