I'll ask the BLM about transporting him to OK; I wouldn't hold my breath on it because once a horse has been adopted/sold, they generally don't like to do that for liability reasons but it sure can't hurt to ask.
The old gray man is still there and I got an email from Ramona asking about who is interested and where they are, etc. So please let me know and I will pass on the information and we will see if we can't get this guy south for the winter!

Michelle said she would take him. She has prior adoption approval. I suppose Michelle will be the adopter. Is that correct Michelle? I will pay his adoption fee.
Thank you for helping.

I have someone who will bring him to TX from OK if we can get him there. I have asked her fee to go to OR to get him, but I'm afraid even to find out what it would be, if indeed she would go that far.
I am going to post her information in another thread in case people in this area, TX and nearby, need a transport.

Andi, you are such a sweetheart! Thanks for helping out. I would surely sign something saying that the BLM was not liable if something happened to him in transport or at the holding facility. I understand what a risk it is. I was approved for four horses and took home two young mares. The ONLY reason I did not take him at the adoption was that I did not know how they would all get along in the trailer for three days on the long journey home and was worried about getting into trouble on the highway. We are waiting for a quote from a very good transport company that has moved BLM horses to see the cost from Oregon here home to Texas. Agian, thanks again so much for being the go-between. Shoot me an email and let me know when I should call her and how things are looking. kigers@ranchobayo.com

I can not tell you how happy I am that, the old grey man has found a new home most likely. He really did pull at my heart strings. He was the only horse I could stand at the fence cluck to and talk to and he would actually take a steps forward, curious to what I was all about. My daughter told me I was silly he was a wild horse and did not know what I wanted, but he acted as though he wanted to find out.

This is so cool. How wonderful to have a cause and a place where people are willing to help. Thanks to all! Michelle, thanks for taking him on. I think this guy has some wonderful surprises in store for you.

I called the BLM office today and spoke with Ramona. She told me that there seems to be some good interest in him now (hoping it is you'all calling to see about him!), and they are not sure what to do with him because their policy for Kigers is competative bid, even though techniqually he falls under the Sales Authority. She said she would call me hopefully in a few days to let me know what they have decided. I am glad at least he will have a home if folks are now interested in him - I hope it can be here though! Thank you all for your support!

So he isn't on the list for the internet adoption. Any news on him? Michelle are you getting him for sure?

I did not find him on the list. He may be on the sales authority list now. Maybe someone can tell us.

No, have not heard anything...I will try to call Ramona agian tomarrow. its' gonna be hard this time of year to arrange transport for him out of there. Hoping with the internet adoption, they will bring him to OK if things work out.

I have to agree. I think it is borderline cruel to bring in a horse of this age. Why not turn him loose on another range if you don't want him in the pool? Doesn't the guy deserve something for being out there this long? Maybe I am not being realistic but why even bring him in. Oh, the color thing! He had some of the nicest conformation that I saw in the pens. Personally, I thought he was pretty nice looking. Beat to hell, but he had this look about him. I thought he would have been scared to death but he just stood there with this wisdom and looked around, taking it in stride. I thought it was sad.

dmr,
I agree with you about the sad part. The whole need to gather is sad, actually.
