One doesn't need to ride ones horse to still love and care for it. Grooming is a wonderful way to bond. Good for you. One thing they do teach us is PATIENCE and UNDERSTANDING. Good luck! Leesa.

Hi, I've been lurking awhile, but this posting about Riddle brings me out of the shadows. My mare, Autumn Wind (known as Maddie), is an offspring of Riddle. I would be very interested to see how he has matured. I only have a photo of him when he was 4 or so. His daughter Maddie is six, and is filling out some, but she has a narrow build and will never be a baroque type of Kiger. I prefer the slighter build anyway. Hope you'll be able to post pictures of your new family member.

Nola, you are half right. You also have to remember we use the same terms for things that are slightly different. Here in Canada we have the Hackamore and the Hackamore gag. The gag has an additional thin wire that goes through the mouth cutting the lips and cheeks. That is illegal here but the hackamore is still used. Infact, the Q-Horse people still use it in some of their classes. We do have some fanatical animal activists that really go overboard here that may have tried to do somethinig like that but it never went too far. Here is what we Canadians call a hackamore.... Here is what we call a hackamore gag. (illegal in Canada) See where there is a thin twisted wire? That is what can really cause a horse a lot of pain and damage if in the wrong hands.

I have been thinking about nola, Stormy and Riddle...how their little Kiger operation is going. I may have to drop her a email. As for hackamores, I don't care for them personally. To cumbersome and confusing, if you want to avoid the bit ride in a side pull or a rope halter.

we have bred her twice now to Riddle, and we will do so agian today if she is still in season, she is one of the quietest mare I have ever seen, she does not squeal, or wink or anything, it was hard to know till she was around him and she did her thing..I have to trot /walk her right after so she wont pee it out, and the first time she stopped dead would not budge, but last night she was 100% better, and as for Riddle, what a gentelman he was to her, I am so impressed with his calmness, demour, just his quiet attitude all the time, Jim feels that he does not have a mean bone in his body, but that could be laos he trusts us I do not know, but we always keep in ind he is a Stallion.. I have no clue how to post with a lap top pictures from photo bucket...amd we no long have the internet at home, we have cut back so I come to the library with my lap top...but I will post pictures in photobucket soon...also I have a new e-mail address nrly1@yahoo.com, my billybob went to hillbilly heaven so I lost allot of e-mail address... nola
