we got in early this morning, he was so tired, and so was Jim and I. He is adjusting well, he loves his pen it seems, and the hay were feeding him, we will be worming him today, putting him on supplements to help put a bit of weight on him, the vet will be out next week to float his teeth if need be, to give him shots, and just to look him over. We are pleased with him, he is very docile. Hauling him was so easy, but I worried cause it was raining, and he was so tired. But we all made it home.

Riddle seems to love it here, he looks to the south allot, his first owners live south west of us in Maricopa, AZ so I wonder if some of the smells here trigger memories, He loved his bran, senior mana, and his pellets. we will work him up to full amount of each. He needs some weight put on. We will have the vet out Friday, and if his teeth need to be floated then he will float them. Tried to give him his worm medicine last night, he fought us so we did back off, maybe after the vet we will be able to do it, cause he will be groggy.but i don't want it to be a fight every 8 weeks. Something we will have to work on. And his feet need to be trimmed, so that to will be done here shortly. I am very glad that we bought him, he is awesome looking, will look better after the weight, and also the woollies come off this spring. will have pictures soon. nola

You might want to get some Iverease and mix it in with his grain. That's how I worm most of my horses, even when I use paste. Ask the vet wether to give him a full dose first time or not. For a horse that hasn't been wormed before the die off can make them sick so sometimes the vet recommends a smaller dose and more frequent, like once a week or something.

went out to see him and stood at his pen for a long while and just loved on him, he put his nose so close to me i was able to blow into his nose, he breathed deep, and blew out, he let me scratch him all over, he also loved getting his rump scratched right under his tail. he followed us all over the pen, he is accepting us, he also know we are the ones who give him his food, and his yummies. His poop was a bit loose tonight, not bad, but I expected that considering his travel, and different feed. will watch him close, and the vet will be out on Friday to check him out, float his teeth. Will get some of that worm medicine, and ask our vet how much, and how long. i want him fit as a fiddle, which will happen.thanks for the information on the other worm meds, is this also the kind that can go into his water. nola

No Iverease is just small granules that don't taste too bad that you mix with the grain. Its ivermectin and made by Farnam. It comes packaged in wells and you use one well for each 250 pounds. Its $3.99 at KV Vet right now by mail order.

since he is a bit under weight, we also are giving him corn. We started tonight, not much 3 hand scoops each nite for a while. Also I had to cut his mane, it was tangled really bad in spots, but Jim was able to comb it after i trimmed it, it's not too short but it is no way as long as before. He loved having him mane brushed, he even let me rub his belly. I feel he will let us brush his tail, we will try tomorrow. It has gotten really cold here so I can't be out for a long time, but I spend it with him, now stormy is getting mad at me, it is so funny, she will get over it soon. nola

What a cute face, I am glad to hear you all are getting along so well. The way Stormy is acting is so typical for a jealous Kiger mare. She wants all your attention as you well know. She will get over it, but she will probably always want most the attention. Come spring when she is in heat she might see Riddle with a whole new outlook ...LOL. He just might turn out to be the coolest guy in town.

we had his feet done and our farrier could not get over the size of his feet, he would have to have a size 1 shoe. He is starting to feel so good, he is giving us a slight attitude, but that will change once we start working with him. He is such a good boy. and I do believe that he is more a womens horses then a mans. he is so good around me but turns away when my hubby gets near him. but that will change as soon as we start working with him. nola

he is putting on weight and looking good, he responds to me allot better then he does to Jim. Maybe it is because i feed him his yummies every day. We are looking forward to working with him from the ground up. Getting his muscles built up, and then we will make pictures of him for breeding purposes. We sold our home here in Mesa at a loss, but for us it is ok, and what I mean by a loss we didn't get what we wanted just enough to pay off some debt. My horses come first, and with work slowing we either sold it or loose it, but hey I do not mind cause these horses give me so much more. So please do not feel sad for us. We did find a 2 bedroom town house1/2 of what our house payment was, enough regression. riddle is doing awesome, will take more pictures and post them when I get back am going up to the property in Snowflake for 2 days. nola
