That is fantastic! Riddle is a beautiful stallion. I have always been a fan of his. If he is anything like our stallion Steen's Kiger Bolero. (Riddle's half brother) He is the type of horse you go up to, and people can see and feel his spirit. You can't help but say Wow.

will get pictures and try to post but me and posting pictures have our moment, more bad then good but will try. Some people say I am making a mistake getting a stallion, I should use frozen semen and not mess with a stallion, but from what I have seen and studied it is all in the way you treat them and yes they are different then a gelding or a mare, but they can also be a best friend ,so were not going into this with rose colored glass's. He will have to be worked with everyday, we will always be hands on with him every day,so he will learn he is home and safe and we will have his trust. i will keep you all posted.. nola

I say this if anyone wants to get a stallion and learn how to care for and handle a stallion the safest ones to be around in my experience are Kigers. I have only come across 2 that were nasty. The rest were absolutley puppy dogs, I am sure alot has to do with the way they were raised possibly but Kiger stallions generally have wonderful dispositions.

we have been told he is a very good stallion, gentle broke to ride, and I do not feel Rick will lead us astray, he was right on about my Stormy. So I do trust him. I am excited we will be putting up his pen this weekend, where we have Stormy he won't let us have a stallion, but his landlord is letting us put up a pen there by the stables. I have a feeling that our landlord isn't going to be to happy, but oh well... Robert knows we take excellent care of our animal's. they come before me and hubby. nola

The thing to remember with stallions, especially if you are renting a place or don't have good control over other people's horses is that mares are as randy as the stallions. I had an old mare three pastures away go through two fences to try to get to Chinny when he was a yearling. Fortunately I got there before she did. You are liable for anything your stallion does and your landlord could be as well. So don't discount how he's going to feel. Where we live there is a county law that stallions have to be behind a six foot fence. Its wise to have a second fence to keep them from touching noses with the girls as well or an empty pasture between them and the mares. Stallions think nothing of trying to breed mares through or over a fence. Which is a good way to get a broken leg or other injury.

yes, diannec is right and for good measure until you personally know your stallion well. It might be a good idea to run electric fencing inside his enclosure to keep him off his fence for good measure.

wow, he will be behind a 16x32x6 foot pen inside another pen. but you are right I do need to make sure he can not get to any mares and visa versa. I guess what upset me about my landlord is he is allowing someone else to board a stallion there and he knows we are with our horses everyday as the other tenets are not. It is his place and he does have that right. I won't stay angry, I was over it as soon as I sat down and thought it out,and read what you all posted. thank you. I am sure Riddle and Jim and I are going to get along just fine. and one day in the not to far (distant) future we will have little kigers at our place in Snowflake,,, I am excited. nola

I believe if you have like a photobucket account as I do, you copy and paste the link right on the post. Which is differant then the other kiger board where you clicked on the tree and copy and pasted the direct link, then clicked OK. At least that is how I got pictures on this message board.
