Anyone going to have an open spot on their trailer heading back near or through Maryland? My husband and I may be driving out for the adoption, but do not have a trailer:( I would love to adopt another weanling, yearling or 2 yr old. We are in Harford County Maryland. If anyone's going and can haul back, let me know please:) Or know someone that would. Thanks very much!

I made a thread for trailering and rides needed...that may help by keeping them all in one place.

Got my room reserved at the Silver Spur. So far it looks like just me and Tasha staying there, and we got a room with 2 queen beds. Anyone else want to room with us and chip in? We definately have the space! We are checking in on Thurs the 6th and checking out on Tues the 11th. I can't wait!

OKAY!! I have officially re-arranged my life to be able to come to the adoption this year (scheduled in one of our busiest months!). Very excited and looking forward to have a get together for all of us here on the Board. We are staying at the hotel that was the Comfort Inn last adoption - they still have great trailer parking behind and are right on the main drag. www.burnsorhotel.com/index.htmlWe are bringing a trailer - but it may already be occupied for the ride home so probably no room for that old stallion I really like (not that I need another stallion at this point!).

Yay Michelle! I would love to meet you in person. I guess you could say you are one of my "idols" with your breeding program and amazing horses!

Is there an estimate of how many total will be offered for adoption? I think it's generally around the 80 horse mark? I count 55 on the web page so far with 5 studs still to be returned to the HMA's.

I counted the last catalog and if I am correct, there were 115 horses.

Sarah...that looks right. Seems like they have younger horses and more girls to put up...

in1993 there were 130 horses, in 1996 there were 85. Both of those adoptions were still done by lottery and there were no catalogs with photo's. I'd have to go back and count in my catalogs for the susequent adoptions. those two are the only ones I recall just off the top of my head.

Thanks for those numbers Kim. Just curious about the numbers for 1999 and up. Will the catalog include horses held for the internet only adoption and horses slated for Eastern adoptions. Not sure what this year's policy is but I think 1999 was the first time Kigers were offered on the internet bidding sight. The first time Kigers were held for in person adoptions in the East was 2003 if I'm not mistaken. Were these horses in the catalog too? My guess is no but I've never seen the actual catalogs.

The horses held for internet and eastern adoptions were not in the catalog as far as I remember...unless they get passed over from the main adoption.

you and me both Michelle ..I have been busy trying to rearrange my life as well. Just got a solid date on my husbands and his best friends 50th birthday party (his birthday is Oct.6th) the party will be held Sept. 24th instead. I hope my friend will return from Parelli school by then to attend. It is cutting it close. I still need to make plans for a place to stay, will talk to the father in law who owns property in Burns.
