This really reminds me of the turmoil Salsa put me thru' with her last foal and besides Fantasy, Porter was her finest and a colt..maybe that is is good sign for Chili. Chili is preparing to deliver one fabulous colt. this was Salsa ..still Chili beats here on belly size

No baby. Kept her in and let her wander around the big pens today. Our vet was here castrating a clients colt and he said he's never seen a mare that large. Needless to say, he is concerned and told me to call him the minute her water breaks. He then told me to get a gloved arm up there and look for two noses right away. If there are two to not only call him but my other vet so they are both there. He thinks twins or HUGE foal.
Gee...now I'm not worried at all!
I had someone watch her for two hours, so I got some sleep. Back out for another long night; I can't even think about leaving her alone now.
Happy thoughts everyone...

Going on five nights of sleep deprivation...I have not left her unattended (which people around during foaling does not phase her) and even though the baby has dropped as of last night, he is still not in birthing position. I just got done taking her out and trotting her up and down some steep hills - that got the baby moved (lets' hope it stays that way). You can clearly see the bottom end of the foal under her belly and the baby is moving around. She is hanging in the small paddock with the gate open to the barn - she does like to come in to foal. I am ready for this to be over with as I am sure she is too!! Pict of Chilli at 3pm:

That boy is going to be ready for college by the time he gets born. You're going to have to think of a special name for him, what's Five Nights Without Sleep in Spanish? we'll be thinking about you and Chili.
