Thank you. Dollie looks so much better when she is actually in shape and not looking like a keg on legs, but it will be a while before I see that again, lol.

Sulphurs do something very odd that I haven't seen other horses do. The best description I can give is that it looks like a deer. They don't put their tails up vertically nor do they look like a normal horse strutting around (most horses look more like Arabs when they are excited. No doubt due to the influence that they have had in most horse breeds). Hopefully the next time Victoria gets really revved up I will catch it on film!

The Sulphers remind of me of Paso Finos in their hindend and the way they move in many instances. When the tail is pulled up and sometimes over, the spine is being pulled from both front and backend, with most horses (don't belive it has anything to do with Arab influence...). Ability to bring the tail up has more to do with flexibility and angle of the sacrum. Both the Pasos and Sulphers have such a deep angle in the rear, that when the tail is pulled it brings more of a fan or waterfall (as the Columbians say) appearance. I've seen Sulphers just stick the tail straight out like a broomstick too... Being that I've done bodywork for fifteen years now, I do work on tails and they tell me a lot, mostly about the sacrum. If the horse can't lift the tail up over it's back, then there is a problem. I wonder if the Sulphers can do that just standing static if you grabbed the tail and pulled it straight up...?? Would be interesting to know. With the Pasos, they can lift the tail up when standing still if they are relaxed - that is the key. Skeletal tension does not allow for those type of horses to lift up; it is a lack of flexibility. Think of it this way: horses gait because their backs lock - when you unlock their back, they go diagonal. We've done this countless times with gaited horses to prove that theory. That is also why a "lazy" horse won't gait. They are too relaxed. Consider this: when a horse is just limited to reaching under the body and cannot do a lot of extension (especially in the hind end, meaning the hind legs can also come out behind as well as under), then the sacrum most likely won't allow for the tail to be brought up and over. If a horse has mostly extension - like an Arab - then the tail mostly goes up. If a horse has reach and extension, then the tail can go either way - like many of the Kigers, Andalusians and Lusos. Paso with natural tail waterfall: This tail appears altered (which they commonly do for the appearance), due to the hard angle mid-tail:
