hubby will check on her at 4 in the morning on his way to work, and if the foal is here, he will call in to work, take the day off, and come home and get me... I am so anxious for this foal, yes it has been long in coming. But I will not breed her again, we do have another full Kiger mare named Mirra, and she will be bred in November.

stormy is 3 days past her due date, her milk is coming in, it is clear with a hint of color, this morning she was not as easy going as yesterday, her tail is away from her 98 percent of the time I was there. she is progressing, and I am a basket case, I have waited a long time for this foal...but I also know it will get here when it is good and ready, I hope early Tuesday, or early Wednesday morning. 5:30 every morning Jim calls and says "no foal yet," he checks her on his way to work...

still no foal, 5 days over, but she is progressing, her milk tested nearer to where it should be. My friend Doreen goes down every morning testes her and calls me, as I am heading out the door. her bag looks good, warmer, I am the impatient one here...now here is a question?: some are predicting a colt, cause she went past her due date, I think it is because she is a maiden mare, any comments on this.

Well Nola, Last year Mariah was 2 weeks early and had a colt and Savannah was 2 weeks late and had a filly. What has the sire produced most of to date? Maybe he's due for a change... I know Ki produced colt after colt for a couple, few years, but then the fillies started coming.

Maiden mares can be late. I was over visiting Cloud 9 a couple years ago and she was two weeks late. I just hung out with her for a couple hours and all of a sudden she went into labor and dropped a huge colt just after the owner got home. I think maiden mares can use a lot of comfort and reassurance, either a best friend or something.
