Good explanation Sarah...alot of them include a riding test - like an Oldenburg candidate had to go through a riding test to be in the Main Mare book; some registries will bump up a mare if she is shown successfully at recognized shows also.

Great links! I have always wanted to take the time and grab some kiger shots like that and then create those outlines on Illustrator. It really helps show the lines that people are looking at and you can see the lines change a little more dramatically without getting side tracked by the form and depth of the actual horse when comparing the different looks. Its a really good tool to use in addition to the actual picture.

Does anyone know of people that have gelded there stallions? With the market, I know of several that have been considering it - just curious as to who has? I would hate to lose some of the older kiger stallions!

I'm keeping Blue for the time being, he's young and we'll see how he progresses.

I know we have kind of attempted this in multiple places, but what about having "best of" photo archive of influential/productive stallions in the breed. I don't know if there would be a way to sub-thread this so people can add their photos to a stallion's thread (for instance having a Steens Kiger section), but the mini threads are saved in one category or group instead of getting buried with whatever thread gets added later on to this "stallions" section. That way the stallion offspring section stays as a unit. I was trying to think how multiple people can add photos to one stallion instead of having a huge thread that has photos of everything out there at random.
I grabbed these names from the other thread and formatted what I could think of off the top of my head. If something is wrong, we can fix it or info can be added. I just threw this together as an idea generator. If this is too much to do, we can scrap it. I am just thinking sometime in the future 50 years from now, people may wonder what the original domestic bloodlines looked like. It might be nice to have them all tucked away in their own section.

Yes! Those boys would be a good representation of that line Dianne Is there a way to format that idea on this message board Michelle? Or would that be difficult to do?
