No foal as of 5 am....at this rate Leza may foal first! Leza is officially due after midnight tonight. Her milk was still yellowish last night.
Come on mommas!

Here is something to think about - maybe they will both foal at the same time!

Might have to come up with a fun name that incorporates the astrological events if someone foals tonight

One of the constellations tonight is Vega - which is Spanish for fertile. I thought if Leza has a colt we could name him Vega and call him Vegas. Eric really did not like that too much though...I have a few other names in mind. Something along the "Charro" lines. I had two foals born once 12 hours apart - Rev and Chach. That was fun. I remember Chach only had his head, neck and front legs out of Chilli and was pushing himself up on his front legs to get up! Really something else. Rev was born first and slept in the lap of one of our working students all night while we waited for Chilli to foal. Lots of fun. Mari is holding steady - sure wish I could milk her to get a better idea of where she is at. Lezas' milk is still yellowish but thicker and cloudier tonight. Last year after her milk changed, the next day she waxed and dripped milk then foaled that night. Guess we are at least a few days off. She is cooking a whopper though. My luck it will be another huge filly ! Tasa and Joy are shaping up. Both are also huge. Joy is so thin bodied - she looks like she swallowed a beach ball! Any guesses on Leza? Sarah may just get the 23rd date with Mari...

thought we were close last night with Mari but no go. Watch - this year she shapes up like a normal horse instead of her sneaky self! I was really hoping for Leza to go this weekend - today is Earth Day...very fitting for her since she is our Mother Earth here. She is just an awesome mare!

Oh gosh! I saw you had posted Michelle and got all excited. Expecting is so much fun for us, not sure about the amount of sleep you are getting. Maybe hang blue curtains outside Leza's stall instead of pink ones this year so she knows to have a colt? Bet she does!

No baby as of 4am this morning. She was sleeping flat out and snoring, so I figured it was safe to go back to bed! Lezas' milk still yellowish last night but her udders are staying pretty full when she comes in at night after being out all day. Tasa still looks like she has a ways to go and being my first year with Joy, it's anyones guess - but her udders are still going way down during the day.
