Mari was pretty busy for the couple hours I watched her last night and super miserable this morning at first check. Even some pawing and leg lifts. I hate to let her out in the big pasture but she needs to get moving around - baby is not all the way turned yet. I think this is a big one for her and it is making her uncomfortable while getting in position.
Leza was busy for awhile during the night. Her hind end is getting weak and she is moving pretty slow. I have not checked her milk yet this morning but would not be surprised if it has turned.
It would not surprise me if Mari went out to hid in the pasture today and have her foal. With all the mesquite, you'd be surprised on how a large herd of horses can disappear from view!

As far as I know Gringo did not receive the tobiano gene otherwise it would be noticeable in his coat color. It definitely would be cool though!

All good guesses....Mari came in from pasture today with her udders still over half full and they filled back up quickly. Her belly has dropped more and the baby is very busy. I just did a check and she is wide away - more so than she has been in days. Eating her hay with a purpose; another big difference as she has been almost ignoring her food. Can't be long!

Gringo could be what they call the breeding stock like in paints...my friend has a breeding stock mare that makes beautiful spotty babies...even with "paints" that only have high white and bald faces...it's recessive or some thing...weird things happen like my sisters crop out TB from a black mare that looks like a splash overo but has no paint gene at all...something called maximum white I think

I keep wondering if the pinto coloring will show up one day on one of Gringos foals...he is so light, it is hard to tell if he would have a small spot somewhere. I have not seen any pink skin on him yet though but who knows?!

Mari is looking promising for tonight. Who knows though! She has dried milk on her legs but so does Leza. Poor Leza! She and Mari were at the barn gate today at 2:50 in the afternoon and it was not even that warm out today. The promptly went into their stalls and wanted their fans on - spoiled wild horses!

Mari was on full foal watch last night and no baby yet! Brat. She is gonna hold out on this one. I still expect her and Leza to foal by Monday. Leza is looking pretty ready, just waiting for her milk to turn.

My husband woke me up this morning with a fresh cup of coffee in hand for me. Then said "I suppose you will be looking to see if any foals popped out at Michelle's last nite, so I turned on the computer for ya." After 25 years married this translates into - ' go check, I am curious too' ! Watched pot never boils ......
