Took some photos today of Victoria (via my phone). She is 292 days pregnant on March 27th. She is starting to get some slight udder development. She looks obviously bigger as far as the foal goes. Here are the pics: She is due around May 16th. I can't wait for this baby to get here!!

Thanks Michelle! As the weeks come closer to delivery I will for sure be posting more and more photos. I have been taking video as well. I will for sure be posting video and photos of the foal once he/she gets here! The color options are either zebra dun or grulla (unless I am wrong and Victoria isn't homozygous for the dun gene. She has produced 4 grullas so far with one being sired by a bay stud). As a reminder of who the daddy is, here is a pic of Pueblo:

Thanks for the compliment! I am hoping that this foal will be better than both of its parents! They made up for each other's faults really well, so I hope that my dreams come true for this foal! This foal will have a pedigree of show and riding horses.

Update on my fat horse. The lady that I board my mare with managed to milk Victoria and her "milk" is basically clear with a hint of cloudiness. She is getting some edema on her belly thanks to my being unable to exercise her on a routine basis (I feel like a bad mom ... ). Here is a pic of her from today after our walk: Udders: I think she might foal in like 3 - 4 weeks. I already have names picked out if it is a boy or a girl

Looks closer than 3-4 weeks! As long as she is able to be out all day and walk around, she's fine and dandy as far as exercise goes. She looks good.

How much closer do you think Michelle?? I have people guessing at the barn already. One person thinks that it will be this coming Wednesday at 4:30AM lol I hope not in a week! All of a sudden I feel like time has steadily crept up on me without me knowing it! I have been waiting for so long it feels like I have at least a month left to wait.
When the milk is nearly clear wouldn't that indicate that she isn't anywhere close to foaling? How fast does it take for the milk to turn opaque? I was also expecting her bag to be much fuller than it is right now. Is it usually quick to fill once they have the nipples turning in?

she is really progressing right along and looks really good. The udders do appear to be filling right up there. I hope she does not go to early ....with a May16th due date I hadn't considered her for the April guess the foal date contest....LOL ;D

Each mare bags up differently. I am guessing from you post this was after exercise, so the udders most likely went down some. She should hold out a week, which will put her after her 320 day mark which is good. Milk can change quickly, but mostly will get skim milk colored first or yellowish; then more opaque and thicker.
The nitties will hang straight as she gets closer and when they start to point out, you are within a day usually. But, again, each mare is different. Did you keep good notes and picts from her last foal to compare? How many days did she go then?

If you are interested i have pictures of my mare who just foaled from about a month and a half before foaling to the day she foaled. I can send you an email with some of the info i gathered from her. But like MIchelle said each mare and pregnancy is different. I checked my mare not even two hours before she foaled and i was pretty sure it wouldnt come that night. A little over two hours later when i checked her before going to bed there was a foal on the ground, and it had not gotten up yet.

Her last foal with me was back in 2005, and I did not keep records on it. I have been keeping a video log this time around. I see Victoria again tomorrow. I will be able to get more photos and see what color her milk is.
