Lisa...before you start a website, you have to make sure the platform has all the abilities that will be needed. Such as databases, memberships, logins, payment options, etc. We also need to make this a non-for profit and set up a BOD so it is not a one man show (or woman )! Thoughts? Thanks for jumping in Lisa and going with it!! I think it is time to have a friendly, supportive base for the Kigers.

I personally don't own a kiger but i am passionate about the breed. Would i be allowed to join possibly? By the way i was wondering if anybody as thought of showing their Kigers/Kiger Crosses at some of the assocaitions listed above at their inspections? Are there certain sport horse associations that are open to spanish horse inclusion?

After two Missouri Fox Trotters made the top 10 of America's Favorite Trail Horse, I checked out their website- www.mfthba.com/ - I really like how the news, events, and breed info is pretty much front and center- they look like fun horses that you can do a lot with (just like Kigers!) I think it is important to have any events and news and articles etc... on the front page with expressive pictures and to stay up to date and refreshing that often or have a rotation of a couple of stories. I just think that helps show that there is a lot going on to be a part of with your Kigers and will encourage folks to do more and connect with other Kiger folks in their areas. And along that same line, it would be great to have a way to accumulate and track points for participating in a variety of activites- shows, rides, parades, community service, etc... since we don't really have breed shows.

Michelle, how are we going to choose a BOD? Do we take nominations and then vote? Are we going to do that on this board? I really liked the www.americantrakehner.com/ format. ATA Goals To establish, maintain, and operate a non-profit association of breeders, owners, and friends for the promotion and preservation, in the Western Hemisphere, of the warmblood horse of Trakehner origin. To disseminate information to breeders, owners and friends pertaining to the breeding and raising of Trakehner horses. To promote the performance of the Trakehner horse in dressage, three-day eventing, hunting, jumping, driving and other sporting disciplines. To encourage a public understanding of the Trakehner horse, its breeding and performance. also americanfriesianassociation.com/Where do we start? Do we need Officers or board members/trustees?

If we go with non profit than we won't me charging for membership, correct? I think our b.o.d. should be made up of 1 person from each state that is interested. Say, 1 person from Texas, 1 person from Wa. 1 person from Oregon, I person from Penn.1 person from Tenn. ETC.
Tiffany, we do need a logo, Maybe those interested could start working on that.

I've never done this before, so I am hoping someone who has been involved steps in to make some suggestions...I also like the trakehner format!
Off the top of my head, we need someone to handle memberships, someone to head the database stuff, someone to actually do the website...I think it should also be member run, so not really have a president. The Andalusian/Lusitano Association runs like that and I've always liked it (everything is voted on by members). We should look at their website and see if they have any info on it. I don't think I have the old rule book anywhere...but I'll look. Usually I don't throw anything away, it's just a matter of finding it!

Obviously this is a very rough draft, but just to get an idea! The butt is a little big for a Kiger, and the legs need a little... erm... help, but it's a start!

I created a "form", if you can call it that. to try to get all the information on as many stallions as I could get. Everything i would look for. I dont know how to put it here but I can try to email it to someone who thinks it might be of some use...
name, dob, color, height, dam information, sire information, breeding information, offspring information, acomplishments, owner, location, Registration association and number and a little more information
