Update on Sam.... I cannot believe the transformation that has taken place with this little guy. He has now had 2 hoof trims, 4 weeks apart ( so has Lupine, but hers were just raspings ) and his hind pasterns are now looking completely normal and he no longer has the over at the knees appearance. I've begun to allow KC and Lupine to stay in the same field with Faith and Sam now to slowly begin his socialization. Can't have him growing up to be a spoiled "only child". At first KC tried to steal him from Faith, so I separated them out again for a few weeks. But now they are all doing well together, and in the next month or so I will try slowly adding in another one of the mare herd, then another etc....to where Sam will have lots of aunties watching over him. He is doing just fantastic, and everyone who meets him falls madly in love with him. He is so cute and personable. Will try to get new pics soon so you all can see how much he has grown and changed.

Sadly, Sam was euthanized tonight. He is buried next to my old palomino mare Tahnay in the back field where he grew up. Sam turned 2 on may 12th this year. Good bye little Sam. I love you and miss you.

That's really hard. You surely gave him a great life while he was here.

My heart goes out to you, Kim. Putting down the young ones is always the hardest. You did the very best you could do for him though, and he had a nice life because of it. Hugs. --Carol
