Congrats on the adopters, Kevin and Lisa!
We've had several people indicate an interest in our pinto, Sky Bar, but not as many with the mare. She's flightier, and since she's been at the neighbors rather than here, it's made it more difficult to just walk out and handle her. We'll see how it goes, though! Loading her up in the morning and hauling her to the adoption site; Sky Bar and my boys are already there!

Well, it was a rough day up here. People showed up for the demos and seminars, but none seemed to want anything to do with the horses available. I'd had several inquiries prior to the event regarding Sky Bar, but only 2 applications were taken home with folks; no one submitted one for him while there. The dun received no interest at all, although I did list her on Dreamhorse Friday and had an email about her last night, so hopefully that will work out.
Kim, I heard things were similar in Buckley, but I've got a couple folks who indicated an interest in a yearling so will forward photos of Snoop to them and give them your contact info.

The adoption in Lorton VA went well. More than thirty horses were adopted. These were some of the nicest horses we've seen. Our exhibition/demo with Sombra went very well. There is definitely much interest in Kigers! The rain didn't put a damper on the adoption. People just kept trickling in and leaving with horses. There were a few "Kiger like" duns I really wanted to take home, but I have more than enough horses to keep me busy. I received a volunteer appreciation award. It was a great day! Melissa

Good to hear that things are still moving forward back east! Maybe I ought to start listing on CL east of the Mississippi, eh?

Tracey, things were similar here at our adoption event in Dallas, Or. There were 2 wild mares available for adoption. They were calm and beautiful. Both were worked with by our clinicians Dawn Marten and Kevin. There was a mare from last years EMM that was looking for a home and 2 yearling's left over from the Oregon Youth mustang event. Those were previously adopted at that event but later the adopters changed there minds, so they were both available for $25 reassignment fee. They both got good homes. So they were the only ones adopted that day besides our T.I.P. horses. There were a lot of people there but no one really interested in adopting.

I guess people are worried about feeding and the cost, it scares me, we have seen so many horses turned out that can not fen for themselves on the news.I am lucky I can afford to feed and take care of my horses, but I also put them above me and so does my husband our animals rely on us for everything and can not take care of themselves like having really young kid all the time as far as fending goes...but they give back so much and I do not regret giving up what ever I need to to take care of them...

I've got an adopter for Sky Bar...too bad she wants to keep him here! The City Boy won't be happy about that. But adopted is adopted, and I'll take keeping here for a few months over not finding an adopter. Now...anyone here interested in the lovely red dun, Tika?

In case you've forgotten what she looks like...the beautiful Wadatika! And note...she's wearing a bit in her mouth. Smart girl. Only thing wrong with her is she's still got her BLM tag around her neck.

Darn you Tracey! You make me fall in love with each and every one!!! I'm just glad you aren't in trailer driving distance or I'd be in serious trouble!!
P.S.--how do you get that cool blurring effect behind the subject??

Excuses excuses...we can find transportation, lol!
I used layers in photoshop for the blurred effect. First layer I used the smart blur filter, then the top layer I brightened and made somewhat transparent so the blur would show through.

Wow! Great job with Duke and Dunbar! How scary for Duke, glad it all turned out great!
Cindy - Tika is beautiful. I think Tracey said she is in Washington, that's not too far silly. Just ask Angela - her Cord traveled all the way from Burns to St. Louis just fine in our trailer. You can do it and it would be a great vacation for you! :-) She is beautiful Tracey, I hope you find her the perfect home if that isn't Cindy's!

This Is Duke in his new home ;D Sept. 28th, 2 days after he got to his new home; Well, Duke has not lost any weight. Mike said we need a bigger bare back pad that makes him look thinner. He is doing really well. We went for a walk today, he was great. He is backing and moving away from pressure. I have been doing clicker training and he is really into it. It was hard to back up far enough away to take a picture. He follows me around, trying to figure out what he can do to get a treat. October 11th; Duke's first saddle. Superman had a very boring ride. Duke wasn't very excited. I had to feed him to take the pictures, he kept following me, so I couldn't get far enough away to shoot the picture. Does the saddle make him look fat??? ha October 16th;Duke did great today. I knew I would be able to get on him, but I wasn't sure how to make him GO. So, I got him used to me 'sending' him with the crop, me tapping him on his hip. I got on, played with him for a while, then tapped him with the crop....Nothing. Hmmm, ok-now what do I do. I didn't want his first step to be exciting. So I got off and grabbed Mike. He came down and I started over. Got on, squeezed, tapped with the crop then Mike showed him a carrot. He had to walk to get the carrot. This worked well. Mike walked all over the pen with him. Duke was so interested in catching Mike with the carrots, that Mike was getting a little worried because he couldn't get rid of him. Mike then stepped out and Duke got to figure it out. He REALLY liked the whoa command. He got that right away. He did great backing as well. Forward was ok, I had to keep encouraging him. The only thing that sent my adrenaline through the roof for about 10 seconds is when the stirrup hit his feeder he gave one leap in the air. He stopped right away, and Mike said "Woooooww.". Otherwise, Duke did great. I had to really watch myself that I didn't give him commands he didn't understand. So I basically let him wander around the round pen.
