ohhh, I hope he is OK! Horses can do such crazy things when they are scared enough. I was amazed at the BLM putting them on their side to trim their feet. I understand the need but if I was a wild horse that would have put me over the edge. I'm so glad he is letting you help him. I imagine the Banamine reduces inflamation and swelling of the brain as well as the pain. Sounds like he rattled his brain cells pretty good. It takes six months for people to completely recover from a mild brain tramma. But horses are tougher than people. Maybe Dino can teach him to eat grain so you can put things into that as well. This may work out well to get him through his fear since he knows you are trying to help him.

Well, the vet was just here and she was pretty optimistic! He is still wobbley, but she said it was good that he wasn't stepping on himself and his eyes looked o.k. His head is a little tilted to one side. She said he could have a fractured scull or just swelling. She said his neck seemed o.k. as he turned his head to look at us. She prescribed Banamine and Dexmethasone (which is a steroid). I had to give it to him in his muscle. She stayed to watch over me as I gave it to him. She was REALLY surprised that he let me give him a shot. I told her, I actually had to stick the needle in 3 times because he knocked it out twice. So we will keep our fingers crossed and keep praying for him. Lisa

Duke is doing better. We are seeing improvements in is movement. His head is still tilted to one side. It was a real fight to give him his shot this morning, and he has a huge appetite.

He's such a nice looking boy, tilted head and all! Hoping he'll pull through this okay and that a good visit with the chiro can help him out (eventually!)

He has such a sweet face. I think, once he's over being afraid, he's going to become a pocket horse.

Duke is doing great, he moving around better and eating like a horse. the last picture Lisa sent in was at a bad angle so it looks like his head is swollen. His face was never did get swollen which amazed me.

That's fantastic to know, I can't wait to hear as his training goes along. I got my very first taste of the Extreme Mustang Makeover this weekend. I was absolutely amazed at the training these horses had. I wanted to take two of them right home with me but alas, I can't. I'll post more picture in the other thread when I finish with them. I also got some video.
