Another sleepless night here (I've been having those of late), so it's a good thing City Boy is driving! We're leaving the house at 8 and heading to Kevin and Lisa's where Steve Holt! will spend the night before we all haul to Albany Thursday morning.
We'll have the laptop with us and I understand there's wireless connection at the fairgrounds, so hopefully we'll get photos uploaded (and video!) during the day for posting. I'll probably only have time to get things onto my blog (http://mustangdiaries.blogspot.com) but maybe pop in here as well if there's time.
Wish us all luck!

skip to main | skip to sidebar Thursday, March 19, 2009 1St day at Expo Well we got here at 7:00 a.m. and got Princess and Dino settled in. I rode Princess for a little while and she did really good. Then we got a number painted on her butt for the adoption. She is number 25. We had along wait until the 6:00 PM IN-hand trail coarse. We had a 3:00 p.m. trainers meeting and I got a big surprise! BLM presented Dino with a blanket for High Point Senior Mustang for the Mustang buckle series last year. It was a great honor and very neat that they presented it in front of all the other trainers. We got Princess ready and headed over to the arena for our trail coarse. We were selected to go 23 out of 28 horses, so we had a long wait. Lisa got to watch all the horses go before us. Princess and I went in and did our thing and I was disappointed that we had one bobble. We had to load in a horse trailer that had cow manure in it and she didn't like it. She JUMPED in on the second try. The rest of the coarse went well. When I came out of the arena I had one trainer shake my hand and tell me it was flawless and another trainer who went behind me came out and said mine go was GREAT! Then Lisa came down and told me that most of the horses didn't load in the trailer very well. So I guess we did pretty good! It felt great. Lisa got a video of it, but it's almost 11:00 so we will upload it tomorrow

I wish you were closer kigerca I'm in San Diego. The only other kiger people I know that are close are in Murrieta. I went to visit their ranch before I moved here. They own King. Very gracious nice people with a very nice ranch and King is absolutely breathtaking.

I love the videos, they help me to know what more I need to work on with Firefly. I wish people would post more videos of their training proceedures. I learn so much from them

It sounds like (from their blogs) that Kevin and Tracey both did pretty good....Sorry to hear the Sink's aren't bringing Princess home to stay, but glad she gets to be boarded with them for a bit! What a great honor for Kevin to be awarded the Sportsmanship award! WOW! That says alot when all your peers vote for you Kevin! Tell us more about the competitions, especially the Extreme Trail....How'd it go? Any surprises?

It was rather bittersweet for us. Steve Holt!'s ride went very well but wasn't reflected in the score. We pulled ourselves up from 23rd on the first day (he blew up when he heard applause from outside the arena, so he was anxious and didn't work too well) to a tie for 14th over all. We tied with Kevin during the riding course for 12th. Steve Holt! is home with us, though, for a mere $550. Didn't hurt that he chose to have an explosive moment (his first with me on his back) the moment the auctioneer asked for bids. I'd had a lot of people asking me about him all weekend and kept telling them I wanted him, so that helped keep the bidding down, too
