Well it was quite a weekend. Kevin is verging on exhaustion, so he is staying home from work today.
It was such a fun weekend. Dino was in the Craig Cameron Extreme Cowboy Race. His ride went pretty good. He finished 16 out of 30.
The top 12 went to the finals. The Kiger Demo's went really well.
Now on to Princess, Kevin's Extreme Mustang Makeover horse. She did fantastic in round one. They placed first in conditioning, with a score of 51 out of 60. And second in In-Hand trail.
So after round one they were in first place out of 30 horses! Then round two they sort of fell apart. They had to do a small trail coarse and then a two minute free ride.
Well we found out right before that Princess had cuts in her mouth from sharp wolf teeth and caps. So the bit was really hurting her. So she was in pain when you put pressure on her month. They had to do a figure 8 at the canter. She took the wrong lead every time. But after that round they were still in eighth place and made it into the top ten. Kevin knew Princess was hurting so for his finals he decided to just do a trail coarse, which is easy on her with a minimal amount of pressure on her month. This is them going through plastic in finals routine.
So needless to say he finished 10th. Which was fine with him because he didn't expect to make the top 10. Then on to the adoption. The highest horse was a big stout gelding that went for five thousand. The second horse went for 3750.00 and the next horse was 2700.00. Princess was the sixth highest horse and she went for 1650.00. We were out bid so we didn't get to buy her back.
Kevin won the sportsmanship award, voted in by the other trainers and he got $500 for that! ;D
It was a great weekend!
