Well today was a busy day - 1st we had a fall festival parade we road in. It went great - Lakota was solid as a rock Here's the pictures of that : My friend who always dresses up - She loves it My boyfriend and Smokey! (rather there rear ends!!) After the parade we headed off to practice for the Trail horse competition show that's coming up Nov1st. It was so FUN. Me and Lakota whipped butt the first go around, we came in 2nd out of 18 riders YAYA She went thru it all with no problems. Of course she stopped and sniffed everything and checked it out first. But I let her take her time and work thru it. The very 1st time we have ever done any of that. I was so proud of her and me. Of course being the competitive MAN my boyfriend is, he couldnt stand the fact I beat him so the 2nd run, he came in 1st.... Both runs were timed! Here's pictures Me going thru a water hole Going thru the wall , they call it. It was a rug cut into pieces hanging down all together and you had to walk thru it...most horses wouldnt do it all because they see it as a wall, but Lakota stuck her nose to it and tested it, pushed on it and realized it moved and off we went... My boyfriend closing gate, we had to open gate - walk thru the gate and turn around and walk back thru it and latch it with only letting go of it once..

Yes it was so much fun. Thanks Kelly and Angela. THe course was like this: first you had to walk your horse into the arena on foot, then step up on a bale of hay and mount, then go over the logs they had set up, then turn and go over a bridge, you must get at least 3 feet on the bridge, then stop and pick up a yellow rain jacket and put it on ur horse, go to the fence and drop it off, then came the gate we had to go thru, from there you went to some cones they had set up where you had to do a figure 8, then go to a rope where they had a big white sheet tied up to make a ghost like thing where you had to drag it on the ground thru some more cones, then head to the mail box and stop and get out the object in it, close the mail box and drop it off in a bucket, then came the wall you had to go thru, then the water hole, then out the arena...there will be much more added at the competition, but great practice. I do know the ending in the show will be where you have to get off your horse, load it into a trailor with a goat, shut the gate, and run thru to the timer. So it will be quiet interesting...
The parade was great, I had several people over asking about Lakota..they heard I had a "mustang" and wanted to see her..ha I think its quiet funny, most think of mustangs as wild and crazy but I did meet an old old man, in his 80's who was actually in the wagon next to me in the picture above, he was saying he knew a guy who had a mustang and said that guy said that was the best bond he had ever had with a horse and that the mustang was just amazing. Once they bond with you, they give you everything.

Hi Everyone - another busy day today. Below are pictures from today's parade. Lakota was a bit more nervouse today...this was a very big parade with a lot of stuff going on. The kids would run up under your horse, behind, in front, etc chasing after candy that others were throwin. But she did great, nothing major happened at all. Afterwards, we headed to the Ranch Sorting but by the time we got there, they were finishing up, so next time we'll catch that. My friend and her "riding partner" - that dogs goes everywhere with her and her husband, so cute so I had to share. Lakota checking everything out, I thought this was a good pictures... My friend - this time she dressed up as a Gold Miner, since this was the Gold Rush parade, she's so funny..she even had buckets of rocks painted gold hanging on her horse..

The dog is actually riding in a buddy seat. They are made for kids to ride in or a passenger and she has always let her dog ride. Its really neat. You should see the people pointing. Yes this is a HUGE parade, thousands of people, all from the city of Atlanta mostly so dont anything about horses. One guy reached out and stroked my boyfriends horse on this butt as he walked by...they are all screaming for candy, and they just run out in front of you, walk behind you, just have no respect for a horse, so I always tell everyone, you must have a great calm horse to ride in this parade. Yes Lakota is getting out there. This is why I needed a horse that wasnt too scared of stuff because I take them everywhere. And I actually had 2 ladies stop me before the parade started and was asking all kinds of questions about her. They were so impressed with her and they are coming out to look at my baby when she arrives in 2 weeks. They are wanting a horse that is very calm, laid back and experienced so that they can learn to ride and when they saw her, they fell in love. They were so amazed at how Lakota just ate the attention up. They were petting her all over and lakota just loved it. Thats what I love about kigers, they are truly people horses and it shows. She said most of the horses she's been around didnt really care about you petting there face and stuff.....sooo hopefully Ive turn some others into kiger lovers I'm hoping after they come out to see Bella, they will want one...

A huge congratulaions! Just riding down that narrow street with those people crowding in, is quite a test . Too bad the people don't have more common sense. Common sense seems to be in very short supply these days. Linda D

Wow Angel, I'm so impressed! What a busy day indeed, Trail Horse Competition and a parade. Very close quarters on the parade and lots of scary stuff in the competition. You and Lakota coming in 2nd the first go round, wow again. Your boyfriend has some serious competition, he'd better get up early to practice! I had to laugh at Lakota testing the "wall" with her nose. So Kiger like, "what is it?" It really shows the way you two have bonded together that you just let her take her time. I'll get some pictures of her in her sheet, quite a difference from the first sheet she wore!

These pictures are from Sunday's trail horse challenge practice. This one was at a different place and much more challenging. I love these because it really helps you to find the holes in you and your horse and what things you need to work on. The only real issue we had was the noodles. She didnt like them at all, I think she thought it was a fence and she shouldnt go thru. It took about 10 minutes to get her thru them, but I took her back over there yesterday evening and eventually had her trotting thru them. You had to back thru the cones, then grab the flag and walk around the cones and put it back in the cone This was a bag of cans you had to drop on the ground and drap behind you around the barrel The infamous NOODLES..ha Here you had to put her front feet in the hoola hoop and get off, ground tie and walk around your horse Here you had to get one end of the pole, walk around both barrels without the other end dropping and then put it back on the barrel

More fabulous parade pictures it just all looks like so much fun. You know I have one of those buddy seats, I inherited it when someone dropped off all their horse stuff, they thought I could use. I never considered it as a doggie chair...LOL. Then again I don't own a small dog. You look great at the trail horse challenge, I wish they had more events like that around here. it does however give me some good ideas for setting up a obsticle course around here, to practice with.
