More pictures of Chica. Chica is 3 days old. similar pose as the previous picture. Hubby forgot to take off Springtime's halter after leading them to the round pen. Believe me, he heard about it, but the pictures were great. Linda D Ooops too big! Sorry

It wasn't too big I've looked at pictures of foals from other breeds and (I may be biased) but the kiger foals seem so much better proportioned than many of the much more popular breeds.

I would love to see photos of Pretty Wapiti and to know her pedigree. No, I don't have a "pedigree" but I know back to Kiger Tiger 1 on her sire's side. I did not mention Chica's sire Lonestar was out of Pretty Wapiti by Kiger Sundance. Lonestar is breathtaking in my opinion. If you aren't acquainted with him it will be worth your while to look him up. Chica's dam, Riddle Mountain Springtime was wild bred and gathered in utero, with Riddle Mountain Mandy, so that is a short list. My 5 year old stallion, Bolero, is out of Springtime by Kiger Sundance. I of course know Sundance's pedigree is Steens Kiger X Mestena, another short but sweet list. Linda D Hi Linda D First pic is of Pretty Wapiti as a yearling, with her owner at the time, Toni Cole. Second picture is of her dam and full brother, he's a year younger than Wapiti, don't know where he is now. Kiger's Spanish Gold & foal Tiger's Spanish Gold (1993) Enjoy George

Thanks George! Boy her brother looks alot like Chica did. Looks as though he is really built. Spanish Gold looks alot like Spring (Chica's dam). They are Beautiful! Like I said, haven't been disappointed yet in her family tree. I see Pretty Wapiti has that same mask that Chica has. That colt looks so balanced and porportioned to me, like Kigerfan notes. I like the depth of his chest. Chica was the same way. Bolero went through a stage at 5 months that just looked like a conglomeration of parts. At 1 year he came together nicely. Chica was always porportioned, butt high at times as she grew, but that is normal.
George did you and Barb see the picture of Chica as a 4 year old on page 3 of this thread? I have lots of photos of them all on Webshots and I just put some on Photobucket under MyKigers Thanks again, Linda D

Lisa, Sorry I missed your question about plans for Chica. I need to find new homes for my Kigers because the economy has stripped us of what means we had to get these horses under saddle and in the public eye. The horses deserve much better. They belong with people like you and Kevin, or Melissa, Michelle and others that have the talent and ability to get them to their potential. I hope to find someone with that ability. My horses out class me. My dream is to see Chica and Bolero being shown someday. Funny how different they are. I see Chica in dressage, and I could be wrong about that. Bolero should be showing off in parades and exhibitions or owned by someone like Tommy Tunes because Bolero has a funny bone and loves to play and to show off. They both desperately need a job. I guess we all think our horses are all that and more but under the right training I believe they have the potential. Potential is only what you mold it into. I sure have been blessed to be a part of their lives. Linda D

Joan, Spanish Gold and Kiger Tiger1 are related to Chica through Chica's grand dam (Pretty Wapiti) on Chica's sire's (Lonestar) side, and Kiger Sundance is her grandsire. Chica is the one with lots of shared relatives on both sides with your gorgeous Sunny. They are more than kissin cousins.
Sunny and Bolero are both son's of Kiger Sundance. So they are half brothers, and they look very much alike. I can't wait to see Bolero really fit like Sunny is in the training photos in the Kiger Quest thread. Bo was a pasture potatoe last year, and chubbed up, although he is self entertaining and plays allot.
By the way, you look fabulous 5 weeks post partum and riding a horse!!!! I responded to that in the other thread and must not have hit the post key because it isn't there. I had also commented on how beautiful sunny is and how much Sunny and Bo look alike. Heck, I just like Kigers.
