I am proud to announce the purchase of a 40 acre facility that will be developed into Canada's first (& hopefully not last) Kiger show facility. We will be holding the first annual all breed challenge in the summer of 2009 as a way to present the Kiger breed on an even playing field with other equine breeds. For more information you can go to www.wildhorserun.com/all_breed_horse_challenge.htm It is a work in progress but we will be updating the site as new information comes in. We hope to post before and after pictures of the facility as it grows and develops.

Thank you both for your support and positive comments. A lot of the US Kiger owners are also supportive but as you said it is far away. My goal is to see the bigger picture. To some this is just another Kiger show facility but given the chance, it will promote the Kiger breed on a North American level.
In 2003 the first Kigers arrived in Canada, in 2005 the first Kiger foals hit the ground and now in 2008 the first Kiger equestrian facility is becoming an achievable goal.
It is going to take a lot of work and more than likely a few years to accomplish our final objective for this location, but I am committed to this breed and have many more plans yet to come.
We take over on September 12th and I will be taking pictures of the property in it's present state. Our work is definitely cut out for us but I am confident that it will become a wonderful place to promote this breed in a public format.
It is located in Flamboro and is only an hour from both the Buffalo and Niagara borders. The access is all highway and it's got a variety of terrain. The back part is fairly flat with some bush and the front has a nice area with sloping hills.
I can hardly wait until the first All Breed Horse Challenge in the summer of 2009.

DHW:
It took 10 years of searching, saving and working 24/7 but we have finally done it. Only 16 more days until we officially own it lock stock and barrel!!!
A few of our staff members went out there last weekend to check out the flea market that is there right now and it looks like 2 of the 5 barns may have to be torn down but all three houses and the main barn (for stalls) is in great condition. A close inspection by a structural architect will tell the whole story.
I CANNOT express the level of excitement I am experiencing right now. LOL!!!! I have spent the last week putting together feasibility reports for the land application. My mind has been running in high gear and the keys on my keyboard are all worn out but it is all well worth it.
We have set aside an entire day for the walk through, inspections and lots and lots of pictures. I want to keep a log of the progress the property undergoes. I think it will be interesting to compare the first pictures to those of the finished product.
Nola:
Thanks for the kind words of support and encouragement. I will post pictures as soon as I can.

Hi everyone:
Well things here have been hectic to say the least. On Friday, we took over. We spent the day accessing the property and boy have we got our work cut out for us. Friday night, the rain started coming down in torrents and didn't stop until this morning around 3am. I awoke to trees ripped out by the roots, roof shingles scattered around the yard and roads flooded. Worst of all, I awoke to find about 6 inches in my kitchen. Apparently those shingles laying in the yard were mine so I guess that means I will be spending the next few days mopping up.
On a happier note, we are planning our grand opening and Christmas pageant that will run from Nov 23 to Christmas as well as a New Years Party. Then it is back to work for our spring fling and Easter events.
I have also confirmed several other events. We will be holding the first annual Renaissance festival and jousting match next summer. We have 4 competitors confirmed from Sweden and Germany as well as Canada and the US. Then it is back to work for the all breed horse challenge. We have booked several clinicians for our week long horse show as well as several bands for the evening entertainment.
I took a bunch of pictures but just have not had the time to get them scanned in. Hopefully I will find the time tonight or tomorrow.
