Dang there are a few mares that I really liked in just that short tease. But I can definately see that they are getting a bit "stocky" Short thick necks bunchy bodies not the leaner ones that you would expect to see

SIGN ME UP FOR THE VIDEO!!! So excited I was just out at the Kiger HMA about a week ago and completely filled my memory card on the camera. The two grullos are so similar looking I ended up calling the one Van Eyck for conversation sake. There are several grullo boys out there in the mix, so if you don't see the missing ear of Van Gogh (or white sock), it's probably VE. I promise I will post more about the trip later!

I hope you dont mind. I couldnt sleep last night so I paused the video and drew two images that were "haunting" me. The first is the grullo stallion at 58 sec and the second is the dun mare at 59. They are both very rough as it was late, i had no light, and i was doing it off of my phone. But still I thought I would share them here.

As we had a stallion named Van Gogh due to his ear we were stuck for a name for the stallion that looks so much like VG that we called his Van Stop, so the stallion on the left is VS. Van Gogh has the tip of his right ear missing and a sock on his left hind. I try to find the sock to identify him. Did you see the silver looking stallion? Don't know where he came from Riddle maybe, but he is stunning in person.

I was surprised to see VS scraping with VG. Something going on with those two as VG has no problem with VS and his mare tucked in with VG's mares. The Silver stallion has his hands full and seem's a bit edgy compared to the others. He is acting like the nervous new boy in town so I think your right about him being from Riddle. There was three Riddle Grulla stallions at the corrals. One was larger then the other two and returned to Kiger. Must be him. I have some video of him in the corrals I will dig up.

youtu.be/its92bbyxv0#4874 Grulla Stallion Riddle return to Kiger HMA. If the silver grulla is new then this should be him. Some of the capture site return photo's do show a silver grulla also.

I couldn't tell from the video if that is the Silver Grulla but I don't think so. I sem to remember them releasing a brander older Grulla stallion to the Riddle also. The Silver stallion seems a little more watchful than the other two but not panicked or too flighty. He moved off from Rick once but it was at a walk and he is gentle withe his mares and foals. We watched VG and VS graze near each other for hours so in aobut 5 hours of footage we only saw that one tiff between the stallions. VS was not in the main herd in 2010 or 2011 and in 2009 we have him with one dun mare and foal. He was down in the Yank allotment and was pretty friendly in that he did not flee and hung out near us for quite some time. I think they are all a little more wary after a gather. I am looking for Blaze moving in a video Michelle. I know we have pictures of him grazing with Ruger and his mom.

Van Stop was actually my dad's suggestion too when figuring out how to easily identify all the grullo boys from each other. I like it too and since you have already been calling him that, it makes it easier. Do you have any other "names" for horses out there to ID them in conversation prizmbluekigers?

need to see the silvers grulla's right rear and look for white. The other two Riddle grullas were adopted so he is in the Kiger somewhere. The younger grulla that was harassing Floppy ear does have a brand but is much darker. There was a silver grulla in the capture site release photos also plus two dark grullas.

Lee, the silver grulla does NOT have white sock. He has a small white spot on his face. Michelle named the white faced colt, he is Blaze. Someone name the silver fella. The red colt should be called horn dog for trying to breed a mare at his age We went back to 2010 and found footage of VG and VS in the same herd just as they are now and they did not seem bothered by each other. We have them standing very close together relaxed with each of them relaxed, one leg thingyed, tails swishing. VS was babysitting a foal for a while. We also have three grulla mares; light, medium, and dark and one of them at least is the same mare we see this year I believe. All those grulla mares and no grulla foals so far this year.
