Rain is coming, so they moved Mystie and Calista over to another pasture with a shelter. Calista has reverted to being "wild" and doesn't like to be haltered (something I have never had a problem with her). They caught Mystie first and moved her over and Calista trotted around the pasture with her colt cantering at her side. If the colt started heading somewhere she didn't want, she would snake him back. My mom knows that if Calista is every feeling feisty, to just let it get out of her system. She kissed to her and when Calista finally started to settle down, they were able to walk up to her. She still wouldn't let them put the halter on, but the colt was easy. He likes to be scratched right on his chest, so they were able to slip a halter on and start to lead him towards the gate with the assistance of a butt rope. They finally got a halter on Calista and started to lead them over to the next pasture. Of course all the horses had to come and stand by the fence to see what all the commotion was about. Calista would swing her butt around and give a squeal and raise a defensive hind hoof to the horses along the fence as she tried to trot backwards and clear the way. Even though she was a handful, my mom said she was absolutely gorgeous to watch. The colt quietly followed along and was wondering what the commotion was about. Mystie was waiting for them at the gate even though Calista still doesn't let Mystie get close to the baby. Mom said I would have had a hay day taking pictures of them out in pasture if I had been there. She also said that one of the funniest things to watch is the radius Mystie maintains with the colt. She is genuinely curious of him, but she has given up the hope of sniffing him, since Calista wont let her within 15 feet of him. He will doze off in the grass and then when he wakes up, he will take a look around. Being a curious youngster, he starts to wander over to Mystie. Once he starts trotting for her, she immediately stops grazing and maintains the distance that he tries to diminish. She has learned to keep away from him even if Calista isn't right there. Calista has relaxed some these past 2 days and I expect she will get better with time.

Here is an update video for those of you who haven't seen it. I will try to upload another one tonight Canyon (I promise I will find a first name for him) loves his auntie and hangs out with her as much as he does Calista. As you will seen in the video, he loves to run! He has also learned how to canter while pushing the ball down the pasture. The mares get really nervous when he does this, so they immediately trot over when they see he has the ball on a roll. He pushes the ball and they will trot on either side of him while he is doing this. youtu.be/JdJ1YgoQ33M

He sure is spirited! He loves to run so much that he has put on a lot of muscle since he was born. As he discovers the real joy of eating grass, I think his toned body will go through another change lol I think Chinny's kids had quite a bit of muscle at this age, could be wrong, but I imagine a couple of foal pictures. Here is the next video! This is his first attempt at cantering with it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ts3P8we2iiE&feature=youtu.be
