Off the top of my head, I don't know why it is shaved there. I can't think of any reason unless the baby was sick and needed some kind of vein shot. I forgot how leggy newborns are!

Looks like wax on that last shot? How long are you off? Tell her hurry so you can be with her!

Calista has wax and 6 out of 6 squares have changed on the test strip! She should finally be having the baby soon!!! Another mare took a couple days even though she had the same signs Calista has, but I am hoping Calista won't be so cruel to me

I got the call at 6 something in the morning! It's a colt!!!! He was born at abut 5:40 this morning. Calista went super fast. About 2 minutes tops. The lady that lives in our barn apartment saw her get up and down a couple of times and went to check on her. She saw the very tips of the feet poking out and she ran to the little house to grab Heather and Brendan. Lexi was the first on the scene and Calista had already pushed him all the way out and was pretending there was no show to see. Mystie kept craning her head around the corner to see what was going on. With Calista getting all the attention, Mystie actually started nipping for people's sweatshirts so she would get some attention too. She's never done that before lol. My mom had been telling the girls that the baby will probably be small compared to the TB foals we have been having, but she was surprised to see how big and good looking he is for the average horse (she was expecting a cute little dainty foal). He has a white star and a white hind sock like Calista. They don't know what color her is, but I asked if he had darker eye lining like I have seen on some of the grullo babies. She said yes and has a dark mane and tail with the dorsal stripe, so there is a good chance he is grullo. I will post pictures as soon as I get them! I am still amazed how fast Calista was able to push him out and he was also very quick to get on his feet and has a strong suck reflex. They didn't need our help at all
