Our mare aborted today The filly was about 3 feet long. Kevin is hoping maybe she had twins in there as they abort between 4 to 9 months one or both foals. She has had absolutely NO stress since she's been here..

Lisa, I am so sorry! When I brought Conchetta home in 03, the next April she had a still-born red dun colt. I wonder if anyone has a sense of how common it is for mares to lose their foals after adoption? I'd think that any mares likely to lose a pregnancy would do so in response to the stress of gather. But I don't really know. Anyway, sorry for your loss! Lil

Great shots! The stallion I nicknamed the Lonesome Prince was the really light stallion. You got some great shots of this guy. Ruger suits him well I think.

How cool that this is your new boy Stacy. Rick will be happy to hear he got a good home. He really felt a conection to Ruger the day we filmed and we do have more stills. Now if we do updates from wild to domestic we can include him as a success story. I'll miss him out on the HMA. Keep us posted please.

Dusk had her first Farrier visit today, and behaved herself well - despite wanting to turn around and see what that strange new person was doing to her hoof. Tom King is a local farrier, and has competed in the mustang training competitions before. I was very happy with the way he worked with her, and by the time he was done Dusk wanted to know why he was leaving without giving her another of those nice scratches, instead of thinking he was a scary man who attacks feet. Having encountered farriers who left the latter impression before, I was delighted, and he's coming back in two months to see her again. She was pretty uneven. She's standing out there right now testing the new feel and looking blissful. Me, I'm just feeling relieved - my baby made it through without any complications!

My girl got here last night. She's pretty stressed, so I haven't done anything much with her. I went in to take some pictures this morning. She let me get pretty close, and when she did move away it was not panicky at all. She's in great condition, except someone chewed her pretty tail off! It's gone... like all the way to the bone gone. But if that's my biggest problem then I think we'll be ok!
