I decided to start a new thread here about Mari since I think we will have a birth announcement sometime soon! The last couple of days she has bagged up at night and then they went down during the day. Today, she stayed bagged up. She was really restless tonight and seems to be uncomfortable. Michelle thinks about two more weeks. Here are pictures of her taken tonight.

I was up half the night thinking of her dropping this foal and this morning when I woke up we had a northern blowing in, so down to the barn in my pjs' I went to check on her first thing! No baby! She was standing under the heat lamp snoozing.
I only say two weeks because I am usually good at saying they are ready, then they wait two more weeks.....I get so spoiled with my mares because I just test the milk then I can narrow it way down and usually only spend a night or two camping out!

Oh look at that girls belly ;D she is looking real good and just about ready. This is so exciting. The first of the adopted mares to have her foal and just what surprises she holds in there. Just what color dun and filly or colt ? Will it have some chrome like mom or not ? .....oh the excitement and anticipation.

Nothing so exciting as waiting for that first foal. I think Mari is so lucky to have a heat lamp instead of a couple feet of snow in the wild. Can't wait to see what she has!

Yes, Mari does like her heat lamp! All the mommas like it when it is their turn to come up. They all love those heat lamps. We are supposed to get an artic front come through Friday. I know it is nothing compared to what some of you have to deal with weather wise, but I am hoping that Mari might wait until after it is not so cold.
It is so hard to wait!

No, Not Yet!!! She is being very illusive about it. Last night I saw the most movement of the baby. It was going to town in there! The last couple of nights she looked a bit lopsided, a little fatter on one side than the other. So, I don't know if the baby is turning and getting in position and that is why it was moving so much. Her bag hasn't changed much lately either. I have no idea what to think!

Here are some pics of Mari last night. She was really bagged up yesterday morning. Last night she was pretty irritated with the little yearling that is on one side of her pen, too. So, we think it may be getting close. It's so hard waiting!

She has been bagging up close to a month now. In the beginning she would bag up and her nipples would hang down. Then in the evening she would be pretty floppy. The last week or two she has been bagging up, but her nipples are not hanging down.
She never really looks very uncomfortable, not like I have seen in the other mares in the past. I am guessing she will just show signs right before she goes. I think that the baby is turned and I think has moved back. She definitely looks more back than the first picture I have posted in this thread.
I am so excited and will definitely post pictures when the little bundle arrives (hopefully soon)!
