This may be related to the horses for sale under the classified thread...
The Canadian Kiger Mustang Registry regrets to announce that it has decided to close it’s doors as of January 27th, 2011.
All CKMR registered horses may be eligible in the following entities: The American Kiger Horse Registry The Steens Mountain Kiger Registry The American Kiger Horse Association & Registry The American Buckskin Horse Association The American Mustang and Burro Association
Please be sure to check qualifying requirements to determine if your Purebred, partial blood or half Kiger meets the minimum requirements.
For those of you who showed commitment and dedication to this registry, we would like to extend our greatest thanks and appreciation. Without your participation, the CKMR would not have been possible.
Please note that those members who signed up for any of the programs such as the Award of Excellence or Points Of Merit will continue to have their accomplishments recorded through the cooperative associations.

I am so sorry things didn't work out, running a registry is alot of work and a large commitment. Sometimes life and unforeseen circumstances just get in the way of ones dreams.

I have no idea what is going on with Kelly at the CKMR. Here is something I have been dealing with for the last 6 months.
In Oct. 09 I bought Sweet Savvy Diva. The filly I bought came with papers, which it took months and numerous emails in order to receive them. I bought the filly in a co-ownership. The other woman passed away and her husband gave me full title to the filly. I contacted Kelly to ask if I could send her my papers to have them put in my name. That was back in November 2010. She answered that it would be fine, just to get new pictures and send them off. I did that, and sent her my original papers. To this day, I have not received my papers. I received many emails stating UPS would be over to pick them off and I would get them soon, or some other form of mail service. I realize the CKMR closed in January 2011, but Kelly kept stating my papers were ready, and she would get out to mail them ASAP. Last week was the last email I received stating they were in the mail. Normally 3 business days will get the papers here.
I tried to phone her today to tell her this is absurd and she told me she was in a meeting and would phone back immediately from another room. She has not.
This is going on six months. She claims the papers were in the mail. On the phone today, she said "did you not get my email stating I sent the papers" I said "Actually, I am sitting here with emails that go back to january stating you had either sent them or were sending them today".
Any one have any suggestions for me on what I should do? So far I have sent an email to SMKR to ask if they could register my filly with my scanned first original papers and the DNA papers. I want some papers for her. This is so extremely frustrating.

Gosh migelle61 I am so very sorry you are experiencing these troubles. So many of us Kiger owner have run into these problems with this that or the other registery. Which leaves several Kiger Mustangs unregistered. I think you have done right by looking to a USA based registery to apply with. Don't be surprised though if it too takes more then one email or even a phone call to get results. Though I am cofident you will get papers for your dear Diva, from which ever registry you choose.

same issue here with us. Now Jim and I fell on some rough times and we lost our home, car, and I lost my mom during all of this. and I could not pay Riddle off or even make a payment. Now I let Rick know. finally I was able to pay him what we owed plus I added 100.00 for the late fee's ect... and I have not received Riddles papers. But I do know Rick will send them. I just have to give him time. as you stated Tiffany it is a hard job and a big one to run a registry. and SMKM is the only registry I will register my Kigers with. Rick has been awesome to us.So hang in there.

Can anyone recommend any of the registries for Kigers that are not branded? I have one that we can't find her mother to prove her line, but I would like to register her anyway.

Thanks fantasykiger.
I am looking into two different registries now. I can't register with KMA cause I don't have access to the info on the lineage. The grand-sire is registered with SKHR and so is the grand-dam. So I might be able to get ahead that direction. I am going to try another registry also.
I understand things can take time, but it is the dishonest approach I can't handle. I keep getting the "your check is in the mail" line or other excuses for not having sent the papers off. When I sent the papers in Nov. I mentioned needing them by April for I have a trip planned to a clinic. I expect I am entitled to getting my papers back within 6 months, or at least an honest response to why I don't have them.
I phoned yesterday afternoon. She told me she was in a meeting and would phone back in 5 minutes. I got three text messages within the next two hours stating the meeting was wrapping up and she would call back. Nothing. As usual, came of this. That is what I can't handle. Especially considering this statement made by her in the registry comparison thread:
"Well said Fantasy, I agree that regardless of how others feel, a true registry MUST be honest and forthcoming. Kelly"
Anyways, I will empower myself and get other papers, and especially, go to bed tonight one experience stronger.

I see no reason why a registry can not be up front and honest. If Kelly did not wish to be bothered sense the shutdown of the Canadian Registry she should have directed you to anyone of the US based registries herself, there is no shame in that. I completely understand why you became upset.

Still no news, no papers in the mail as claimed. I am appalled.
Luckily for me, two registrations are offering me papers for Diva. At least this is more of an honest process.
Honesty, no matter what, is always the best policy.

Well, never got my papers back from Canadian Kiger Registry. So the only papers I did have for my Kiger are gone.
Then a woman from the American Kiger Registry told me she would register my filly for me. I have not heard back after sending along pictures and a jpeg copy of my CKMR papers. That was 5 weeks and I haven't heard anything back.
I emailed the KMHR and SKHR and have not heard back. Why is it so hard to get papers?

You know you just got to pester em' ....I am sorry. That is why so many are left unregistered. Just copy your email and send it to them everyday until you get an answer...or better yet call them and ask. They should have contact numbers on there websites.

I've had the same trouble if its any consolation. I did call and after three calls to the particular registry I needed action from I got it. These are largely unpaid positions so I guess that's what makes the difference. Kiger Horse Assoc. and Registry has a guarantee it you send in everything they ask for, and they also waive dna testing for mares born prior to 2007. Thats a lifesaver.

Thanks for the input. I just emailed Kelly to see if she could offer me an honest answer to what happened here cause it has now been almost 7 months since I last saw the only papers I had for this filly.
I wrote back to Mrs. King cause I have heard nothing in 5 weeks. So if I don't hear back, I will repost.
I realize it must be huge amounts of work, and I sure would not be as dedicated. I appreciate what these people do and have said so many times. I just like an honest approach. That is just me...I don't care if it takes weeks on end. But don't treat me like an idiot, or ignore me. A quick polite note saying "No, it has not been mailed, maybe next week" is better than " I mailed it, haven't you received it?" while it never even got close to a mail box.
That is just the way I am, and I know it is wrong to hold people up to my own set of standards, but I do that sometimes...

Honestly, I don't think it should be this much trouble to get papers from a registry - any registry. That is what they do for crying out loud!
