That is my point exactly. This appears to be something that should not be an issue. If you do it for free, it is your choice to do so. BUT DO IT. If you if you do if for a small fee, it is your choice. BUT DO IT. And if you charge more that is your choice, BUT DO IT.
Otherwise, just drop it.
I had Arabian horses for years and it was never an issue. It took a while to get the papers, but it was done in the time frame that was advertised. I realize they are larger associations. My point is, give a set time frame, something that is "doable" and DO IT. Or quit.
I find this appaling personnally. Many people are doing lots, mainly speaking of breeders, to make this fine breed of horses available to the public. However, they are also chosing fine specimens to pass on the genetics, and characteristics of the breed. How can that standard be upheld when it is such a big deal to get papers? I have a beautiful filly up here, with good blood, purebred Kiger. I can't get my papers for her...so if I did want to produce a nice purebred Kiger, I wouldn't be able to sell it as a purebred, nor my filly for that matter, cause I don't have papers...and so on, and so on.
I have issues with that. I would like to turn to other more serious organisations to paper her, but how do I do that without proof of parentage? I do have her DNA test, and a jpeg version of the CKMR papers. Any ideas?

Wish I could help, but I have the same issues. I am actually tired of telling folks who buy my horses they are not registered. Most other registries require breeding papers in order to register with them. There has been a group of folks talking about an association for breeders and owners - maybe this is the time to do it. That way at least some kind of paper work can be given and won't be biased on color (which irritates me to no end...). I am sure there will be issues that come up with verifying parentage and such but there can be a section for horses that can't be so at least some paperwork is available for every Kiger. The papers could even say "unverified" but at least the owner would have something.

Well Michelle, I sure would be willing to help in some way. With technology as it is, most people can do a little part of the job based on their interest and skills and together we can produce papers. I am not a great researcher, nor worder, but I am good at graphics and put together the papers based on a model and then send the jpeg model to someone who would do the printing and mailing...I would think this could have a BOD to run it and make decisions cause that helps to avoid unilateral decisions. With a small be decent fee, most of the costs of production (not counting human labour) would be covered no problem. D

Does anyone know how to get in touch with Kelly now? Or someone who would have access to old registration records?

USA Kigers may be able to help, they worked together. I know she does not do much anymore either but might have records.
