Super trotting in the arena today To the right and to the left I was doing some work with him today with out a line. There is no resistance when there is nothing to pull against. I too have to get clever to keep Super with me while getting him to cross the obsticles and rather then go to the gate come to me to ask what next. I try not to use treats and see how he does, obviously with treats he would be all up in my business...LOL. ;D His favorite obsticle is the little bridge I just think he likes that loud sound his hooves make crossing it.

I am going to give it a try and see if thru the winter he can actually grow a mane. With some equine their mane gets to a certain length then becomes weak and brittle and breaks off. That is the case with my BLM Mustang mare Salsa, her mane will never get any longer then it is as it always breaks at the same point. Super's mane may do the same and he may always be a mohawk kinda guy or clean cut roached mule, but we shall see.

Wow, Super and Indy are both very nice....Forgive my ignorance of mules, but is there some reason (physically) that you don't ride a mule till 6? Are they very slow to mature skeletally?
Keep up the nice work with him Tiffany!!!!!

Talked to Indy's owner today who told me his Momma was a Thoroughbred and PaPa a champion burro who was not listed as a"Mammoth JacK".She's been studying mules & training & has learned the "experts" suggest that mules have a "settling" at age 6 when they become more trainable and again at 11 when they become the critter you've always hoped for! He's very personable & cute but he's a challenge !
