With the final selections made and the schedule set, I am excited to announce that Kiger Sombra has been chosen to participate at the Equine Village during the World Equestrian Games 2010. Scheduled dates for Sombra's demos are October 3rd thru 6th. While this event is several months away, this will allow time for Sombra and me to work on new routines. Visitors from around the world will have an opportunity to see a Kiger Mustang. This is exciting! Melissa

GREAT!!!! What an honor for sure. I can't wait to see how it goes. You do so much with your horse's and represent the kiger's very well! Glad to have you on our side Will Bandit be going as well? What routine will you be doing? Inquiring minds want to know!! Were you ready for this cold we've been having? Very abnormal for this time of year - Im afraid we will be having a cold, wet winter.

Yes, Bandit also will be attending. Both horses will be exhibited each day. As for routines, I have a few exciting & creative ideas, but that's a secret for now. There is MUCH work ahead for us. I LOVE long term goals and thrive on them! It has been cold and rainy here, but warmer weather is on the way. Melissa

Congratulations Melissa & Sombra! The work that you two have put into becoming the team that you are will now be obvious to other horsemen from around the world during their visit. This is a huge honor for you personally but possibly an even bigger honor for the Kiger breed. I hope every Kiger owner and enthusiast is as proud of this opportunity for the breed as I am. My hat is off to you! Please keep on striving!

I know of no better representative than this accomplished pair or I should say trio. It will be a polished and professional presentation to be sure. It is an excellent opportunity for the Kiger breed and for mustangs in general. Congratulations, on a fine accomplishment to be included in a world event. Linda D

Is this a breed exhibition like what you would do at the Kentucky Horse Park?

Yes Kim, but at a more prestigious event. It is an honor to have made it thru the selection process. I was not chosen to represent a specific breed of horse, but to entertain. Neither will I be representing the BLM Adopt A Horse Program. I am proud and humbled to present the Kiger Mustang on a "world stage"and will strive to perform at a level that could stir interest in our breed from other horsemen, not only from the US, but from around the world. I hope to be a small part in making all Kiger Mustang owners and enthusiasts proud of their chosen breed. Melissa

Hugest congratulations, Melissa!
I second the comments of Linda D and Karen. For those of you who really aren't aware, Melissa has put tiring hours upon hours into her horses, and is the most consummate professional putting her Kigers in the public eye. She has not begrudged any lack of formal recognition for her efforts from any established Kiger registry. Rather, she has worked to display Kigers as a horse that she loves, rides, and drives, as a reward in and of itself.
She has not used her numerous opportunities for self-serving purposes, but because she likes the horse, the Kiger.
That she has taken the step, the commitment, and the risk to present a wild branded Kiger that she has spent years training is truly a demonstration of loyalty to the Kiger above and beyond. That deserves much praise.
That she has decided to do this in an international forum is tremendous for the Kiger -- for those who don't know, the World Equestrian Games really is an international event for all disciplines of riding competition, on the level of the Pam Am Games, even the Olympics. It's not named the "World" games just to give the competition a facade of international importance, it really is a global event for the competitive horse world.
Thank you, Melissa, for undertaking this momumental responsibility, and for having such faith and loyalty towards the Kiger, through all the quagmire that often surrounds things over the years.
YOU GO GIRL!
Diane P.

Hey Melissa! Turns out you wont be alone at the WEG! Just saw on a SM board that the WEG organizers have contacted a gal in Kentucky that owns a Spanish Mustang named Billy Jack and a Nokota named Moonshine to be there as well for the opening ceremonies! Go Mustangs!
