Kimberlee, I don't think you don't need to worry about Melissa feeling alone. I believe that even if the "mustangs" you mentioned make it into the opening ceremonies, that is a different thing than Melissa and her horses are going to do.
They will be presenting exhibitions by themselves in the arena. It is a true honor to have a Kiger be shown in this manner.
One thing is for sure: Melissa will be alone in the high quality of a presentation using mustangs and mustang-related horses.

Wow Diane.... Well, I am sure that Melissa will be much more gracious than you are being. I am sure that she also knows these two horses and her owner as they were requested to exhibit their breeds at the Kentucky Horse Park for a some years now. The gal that shows them is also very much a show person and does exhibits her horses in dressage at the Kentucky Horse Park. I am sure she will do the same thing at the WEG. Sorry, just thought it was exciting for the WEG to be asking people to bring their Mustangs to such a grand event. Instead of being shunned as useless mongrels like they use to be seen as and are still seen to some people, they are being asked to attend a prestigious event! There will also be a Colonial Spanish breed class at the Dressage at Devon show this year as well. Money has already been sent to sponsor the classes. Big strides are being made for Mustangs!

Good for Margaret! I had the opportunity to chat with Margaret a few months ago after the first selection of participants to entertain at the Equine Village. I heard through the grapevine she was on the waiting list. She must be thrilled to have been notified after all this time! Her persistence has paid off. This must explain why the first vaccination deadline has been delayed two weeks. I am sure Margaret will have tremendous support from the organizations she is associated with, and that Margaret and her horses will be a good representative for them. It is a shame we will not be attending the same week. I will attend four days during the second week with two of my horses. One a Kiger Mustang and the other a Spotted Saddle Horse. Thanks for sharing the good news Kim. Melissa

Kimberlee, my point is that you always seem to want to turn discussions to be about apples when the discussion is about oranges.
Melissa is right that those horses and the respective associations will surely be represented to the public in a way that shows what their horses are about.
However, those associations do not want to consider that those horses are in any way related to BLM mustangs. So I don't really see it as any big coup for mustangs.
Kigers are BLM mustangs, and since this is a Kiger board, and Sombra a BLM branded mustang from the Kiger herds, it is doubly wonderful that they are doing an independent exhibition at the WEG, and it has been set for a while now.
I am sure that everyone who is doing any sort of demonstration with their horses will do their best to show them in the best possible light.
