Cool, he does have quite a few lighter areas. Does he fade a bit in the sun? Darker as he sheds out? Are some of his foals dark after they turn a weanling or are they all dark? Our will be born a lighter color and then darken dramatically when they shed their foal coat. My stallion throws either really dark or really light grullas so he has one sooty gene. Funny that its one or the other unless the mare also has some sootiness.

I actually have a friend who owns a very sooty buckskin who has almost a seal brown color to her in the winter with a mealy muzzle but turns into a regular sooty buckskin during the summer.I think genetics are truly fasicnating especially color and there fun to guess about to LOL.
