OK I am so drooling and I am usually not a pinto girl but there are some lovely colored Mustangs out there and they look good. Not to mention the lovely scenery, I was so bummed I could not attend the ride I do hope it is an annual thing so I may get a chance to attend next year possibly.

We've always been able to get closer to more of the South Steens herd than we can the Kigers. We drove down one of the dirt roads on a visit and the band of horses was split on either side of the road. After deciding they weren't going to all bolt for the hills, we got out of the truck to take pictures and the stallion allowed that for a few minutes and then he crossed the road and made the 4 or 5 horses there move back to his side of the road and then they went on grazing. Guess he figured if he decided to move them out, he wanted them all together. They never did leave, we did and yes, there are some nice paints out there.

We are defenitely going to do it again next year! If anyone wants to fly out, we will find a horse for you to ride. Lisa p.s. picture 155 has a mule in it. Someone must have lost it or turned it loose.

Yes, that's where Dibs is from (turned out to be a colt, not a filly ;D) We got pretty close to them in December.
I'm so disappointed about not having been able to make the ride after all the planning for a year! But I guess that's the way it was meant to be. I've got our names in to attend the gather, but we're pretty far down so not sure if we'll get called for it or not. Good news, Tara said, is that roughly 15 people dropped out of the Kiger gather, so there's a glimmer of hope!

When is the next Kiger gather planned for? Omg, I would kill for a chance to go on a Kiger gather! I'm so jealous of all you guys out west. And the ride to see the HMA... sooooo jealous! Here on the east coast, Mustangs are not exactly desirable, and the BLM makes life so difficult that I'm pretty much done with them. I don't want to foster or do TIP or anything anymore. I just want to adopt my grulla Kiger filly next time, then I'm done I think.

Next year already? Thought it was 4 years between adoptions. Man, if it's next year I need to start saving money!
