:)The long expected foal has finally arrived. Eclipse, who used to be Kim Kellogg’s mare but is now part of my riding and breeding herd, waited til the weather cleared and forecast is beautiful to have her beautiful boy.
He was born at 8:30 AM, and this time witnessed by me, and the entire neighborhood of people I had over helping with things this morning. Who knows whether the fact that she held on to him so long is a factor, but he had NO trouble getting up, and immediately going to nurse. No hunting around, no wobbly attempts at movement. Up and to the rear! At an hour, he was already nickering not only to his mom but to his fans, as well, and is very friendly. Eclipse is a great mom, and very easy to work around.
Pictures will follow tonight or tomorrow, but he is a beautiful very pale grulla, seems to have two white socks in the rear. Nice striping. Very personable! Eclipse seems to be doing fine.
