I have a five year old mare and have joined the Horseback Search and Rescue team. She is doing awesome. We have camped out once and the first time she high lined, no problem. We rode for 6 hours the first day and 7 the next, with full packs. She is so strong and a real go getter. I wouldn't trade her for anything.

how wonderful ...do tell us more. What is your mares name? where did you find her? Did you do all her training ? I love to hear about people riding and using their Kiger Mustangs on a regular basis, and how they like the breed.

My mare's name is Chickadee Creek and I bought her from Dianne Chaffee of Canyon Creek Kigers. She is out of Calista and Chinook. I have done all of her training. She has a great mind. She loves to work. This weekend is our ceriification course for Search and Rescue. She is the only kiger in the group and boy to I get people asking about her. They can't believe that she is only five. My daughter rides her a lot too. She can't wait til she and her kiger colt are old enough to join the team. I will get some pictures up when I get some more time. I am so excited about this weekend!!! On July 18th, my search and rescue team will be in parade down in Snohomish, WA. Chick is a very dark gruilla, she looks a lot like for father. I will write more after this weekend. The best thing about this mare is that I almost lost her last year and she has come back stronger thatn ever.

Glad to see you here! Hoorah! Guys, this is my very best friend and she has done wonderful things with Chick. I had her start Chick in training for me and she fell in love with her. (hint, hint good way to sell your Kigers) Really, she has four Kigers now and two of mine, Blue and Cedar, at her place for the time being. Can't wait to see the pictures!

OK Everyone, Tomorrow is our big day. If we make it thru the weekend then Chick and I will be certified as a official members of the Search and Rescue team. She is not happy with me, she got a bath today. I told her she had to look her best to show what a good kiger is. My daughter is going with us, she gets to be a subject. I hope we find her and not another team. If Chick hears her, she would lead me straight to her. Chick comes when Stefani calls. I guess that would defeat the exercise if we walked right to her. I am hoping to get the picture my friend took at the last mission, Chick tried to lay down and roll in the snow, yes we were that high up. If he gets it to me, I will put it up. We leave from base camp around 8 am Sat and won't be back there until afternoon on Sunday. I will let you all know how it goes when I get back.

oooh, thunder storms forecast for the mountains today and tomorrow. Stay safe and dry! Maybe you can train Chick to be a rescue horse and use her ears like dogs do their noses?

Since they are on their trip I can tell a story about Chick. When she was on her first ever trail ride they took the daughter's Arab to lead the way. The Arab saw a white sign and did a big spook. Chick walked up to the sign and sniffed it then gave the Arab such a look! It made everyone crack up. From then on they had Chick lead and the Arab follow.
