With the mule training starts right away he is big, brave and runs right up and buries his head in chest and would probably jump up on me like a dog if for a second I let him believe it was OK for him to play with me. He is fuzzy soft and cute as the thingyens, but the last thing I need is a spoiled MULE. He gets all the rubs and attention I can give him but only when he behaves nicely. He has already grabbed a mouthful of my jacket during a yeild your hindquarter lesson. After almost plowing over my friends kids who he thought they were little people come to play, he learned to give to pressure and back up and stand still or no one will pet him. So todays lesson of putting on the halter took all of 30 seconds. I had my daughter take some pictures, after a little rearing I readjusted the halter to fit better and he kicked up his heels. I really need to get him named...so I can stop refering to him as 'the mule'

What a handsome boy he is, and already so full of it! You have a winner there! Take your time with the name, he deserves a well thought one that reflects who he is. A contest will give you a varied selection to consider. Congratulations! He is adorable! Is that black shading on his neck and withers? I love the pic of him laying down. Linda D

Well, it is a faded red halter, so I guess it has gone pink...LOL. I am sure he will grow out of it fast and advance up to next size I have on the shelf and I think it is purple. He does have black shading on his whithers and neck even the top of his bum, but no dorsal stripe Still I am happy his coloring suits the dressage ring, I hope we can learn together, as well as a far share of trail riding and all that stuff. I love his black tiped Kiger shaped ears, just jumbo size For the next few days he will getting socialized playing meet and greet to lots of visitors. With short 5-10 min sessions thru out the day of ground training.

Yes..I plead guilty to spoiling a horse in the past. Now I know better and my horses have to behave to get spoiled or I guess I should say pampered. Of course when I fall off the wagon and let anything slide because they are just so cute, people got my back to remind me....NO SPOILING!....LOL. or I can just look at Fantasy and remember spoiling makes great horse friends but not perfect riding partners.

If you think that he has dressage potential, then a more debonair name may be appropriate. The mustang that did so well in dressage was JB for Jail Bird, he became JB Andrews, or Andy. Linda D
I do love those elongated classic Kiger ears!

We are still working every day and the other day he got his first serious shock  when he bit me agressively and my timing was spot on and he got a firm smack in the jaw. He ran right back to mom, I waited 30 seconds to give him a moment to think. Then went back to him and he walked right back up to me and scratched his favorite spot and we went back to our lessons. I want you to know I would never hit a horse foal in the head for biting I would give them a smack in the chest or neck, with mules it is differant I want him to know he can not put his mouth on me that way and make it clear. He can rub his mouth on me, touch be with his lips but if he ever pins his ears back and opens his mouth and grabs me he will get one quick smack. Now when he just has a set of nursing teeth is the best time to teach him not to bite. I thought I should explain my lessons though they be brief about 5 -10 min at the most 2-3 times a day. Yeild hindquarters- I am just putting my arm under his neck bring his head toward me. Using the fingers on my other hand to use the least amount of possble, but as much as I have to, on his upper hip to ask him to move his hip stepping over by crossing his near leg in front of his off side leg, just one step. Then pet and rub his favorite scratch zones Drop your head and back up- I put my hand on the across the bridge of his nose and add pressure at first only to to get him to drop his head, then I release the pressure. Then pet and rub his favorite scratch zones. Once he was consistant then I add take a step back ward. Then pet and rub his favorite scratch zones. Today for the first time we added yeild your forquarters-I placed one hand by his head one hand on his shoulder apply pressure and ask for his near leg to crossing font of his off side leg, just one step. Then pet and rub his favorite scratch zones I know it all sounds kinda advanced at his age, I have yet to attempt to teach him to lead but mainly it all about teaching him to give to pressure first. Sense his first lesson on no biting and the advancement of backing from one step to three. He has calmed down his ruff play behavior me. I can't say the same with mom, she just tries to avoid his runs at her. I need to get more pics' of him showing off hiss talent for running and jumping. If there are obsticles in the pen he loves to jump them. I still have a few more names to check out..but I have always wanted a Ferrari Enzo. 'Fantasy Ferrari Enzo' sounds like a good registered name. I could call him Enzo' not sure he would be fast as one, but should would look just as fancy, maybe.

Looks like you have a big bundle of personality there - it's going to be great watching this one and hearing the adventures. Im sure there will be plenty of stories with him I love the pic of him running and making dust!!! and you're right about the biting thing - bad bad habit. It may start out little but ends up BIG!!
