We have been experiencing a lovely Summer preview with our weather and it was 80+ degrees today. Fantasy loves to spend all day under the sprinkler, she has taught her daughter Wickee to do the same. On occasion some of the other horses will join them as well. But Fantasy rarely leaves the sprinkle except to roll in the dirt and get back under the sprinkler.

Can't do that in California, water costs toooo darn much to run it all day. We built a stall under a large coral tree today for Firefly so she can be out of the direct sun

Oh it is times like this that I thank my lucky stars for my own well...still it is like running an air conditioner just for horses...LOL. Still gotta' pay higher electric bills to run the pump. Last year got kinda' spendy leaving a sprinkler on for Fantasy, this year she will have to settle for sprinkler time only when I soak my arena and let her in.
But next weeks weather perdiction mid 50's so it will be awhile before she wants her sprinkler again.

It's been in the ninties here and Firefly hasn't seemed to mind it much. At least when she's free on the property she can find shade when she wants it.

Great pic Tiffany! My mare Belle used to love being hosed off or stand in a sprinkler on a hot day. She actually rotated for me the day before she delivered her last filly -- She turned from facing, to side, to butt, to side and facing again. It was funny! ;D
Yes, having my own well is something I take for granted too. We've got sprinklers running all summer... I'm sure that will be one thing this silly state (CA) will want to tax next -- water.

Great pict...we have a few water babies here too. Sycha LOVES to be hosed down when it is hot! We have the same thing here though, gots to pay for that water - in the summer our average bill is $300+ per month. We have six old wells on the place and hopefully if we get into a wet year, we can have someone come out and get a few going agian, especially for the barn and Erics' cows.

Horses should be at least a little spoiled, that's what they're there for, just ask them, they'll tell you

LOL... ;D Spoiled?? you think so. I think Fantasy has DIVA stamped on her forehead, that is my fault I am sure. Wickee was raised by me differantly (I learned my lesson ) but they learn alot from their horse parents as well. As the ol' saying goes...."Dogs have owners, Horses have slaves" ;D
