As many of you know, my red dun mare "KC" from the 2003 internet adoption is in foal to Kody and due ANY DAY. She began waxing day before yesterday, but I haven't noticed the foal move significantly backward yet. Since she has only had one foal before ( came inside her from the wild ) and that was 5 years ago, I'm not really remembering how she goes. But I'm thinkin' she's got a filly in there as she's carried it up high and forward the whole pregnancy. ( let's hope! )Her appetite is beginning to decrease slightly. I was so hoping she would have it this weekend so I would be off work to stay home and play with it! Dang! Kim

Michelle, Kody is the son of Ki (dun ) and Savannah ( red dun ) so, yes, he has a red gene. KC, however is an extremely sooty red dun, so it will be interesting to see. Her colt ( now my gelding ) conceived in the wild was black ( dark grulla ) with fawn colored ear interiors, and a visible dorsal . I'm pretty excited about this particular foal. Kim

Are you hoping for a filly to hold back for your breeding program?

I was out and around today running errands and saw many foals on the ground in different pastures, it was great! I drove my husband nuts pointing out each foal.

Kim, what a beautiful picture of KC! She has become such a lovely mare; she should be an encouragement to all of us with gangly two year olds! (like she was when you got her). I can't wait to see the baby!

Horse Springs Kiger Ranch PROUDLY announces the arrival of a perfect grulla filly this morning. KC waited until after I left for work, but the filly was still damp when I got home at 10am, so I figure she probably foaled around 7am or so. This is a lovely baby, and I do plan on keeping her. Kim
