I really think Kiger Mustangs excell, when given' a job. Meaning I think they get bored just riding around without purpose. It seems she would not mind the job of working cows. So should you need to lend a hand rounding up some cattle looks like you got your horse for the job

Im surprised at how much cow sense she has, as Shane was also. Which is great - cause now we will start doing some cow horse competitions Im going to start with ranch sorting I think. We have alot of ranch sorting and team penning around us. I really like cutting better but we'll see. We're just having fun right now. It's amazing at how versatile these horses are. Im still amazed everyday. Everything Ive tried with Lakota, she excells at and enjoys it. More stories to come with hopefully better pictures

As Gary Rose (BLM wrangler and rancher) recently told me, most mustangs will watch a cow. They may not all excel at it, but he's rarely seen one that won't at least watch.
Sandy jumped right in a couple weekends ago and showed those domestic 'cowy horses' what a green horn mustang was capable of. It was his first time, too.
It was a blast, and I'm now wanting cows for Mother's Day ;D

Only your true horse friends would understand cows for mothers day! I hope you get a couple! I saw the cutest tiny baby calf the other day; he was black but had a full white stripe about 3 inches wide from the top of his head to the beginning of his tail; guess he's trying to camoflauge himself as a skunk! LOL....

I went to the stockyard and found Mabel. She looked like a nice cow...but she kept picking her nose. The other cows thought she was gross... Of course, dairy cows probably aren't the best for chasing...

I bet not! You get them running too much, they might spring a leak and then you'd end up covered in milk!

LOL..you don't see to many dairy cows in the cutting ring now do ya' ;D
I think the funniest thing to watch is my Mini' horse herd cattle. He is not particularly nice and it is more like watching a cattle dog work cows. He bites them in the hocks to get them going and runs right along the side of the cows. To make the cows change direction he runs ahead and gives em' a bite right on the side of the head. It is kinda understandable as he grew up as a foal with some steers and made sure he was the boss. To bad he does not do it on command though, just of his own accord.
