I am new to the Kiger breed. I've only been learning about the breed since last summer. And I bought my first Kiger in December. She is my "dream horse". ;D I have been reading the posts regarding dorsal stripes vs countershading. And now I am totally confused and have no idea if she has a dorsal or just countershading. She is a bay, both her sire and dam are dun. She is a lineback, but I have no clue if it's a dorsal or not. Can anyone clarify difference between the two?

I have seen duns so dark one might confuse them as bay though I am not saying your mare is one such Kiger. One sure fire way (in my mind) to clarify dorsal vs counter shading is fine line vs the fade. Does that stripe down her back have a crisp edge between body color and stripe color or does the stripe fade in to gradually change to the body color. If it is a fade it is a counter shade Here is my funky example, to give you an idea what I mean...
