Man, my boy is amazing! I got a halter and lead back on him. I got him in his stall and used a corral panel to squeeze him up against the wall, then used a hay string to pull the halter around his head. He's still got it on too, lol. He's so funny. I can't approach him in the pen, he's way too nervous for that yet. He turns to face me and takes a few steps towards me, but not all the way to me. He'll come about a foot from me if I kneel down, but won't touch me. Yesterday I was working on giving on pressure from the rope (which he doesn't do by the way), and he bolted and ran straight in his stall. I guess it's his safe place, lol. I went in the stall with him and turned my back. He came up and sniffed me all over. Then he let me pet all over his head. He LOVES having his cheeks and chin scratched, lol. He makes the funny lip and turns his head sideways. And when I stop scratching he walks up and bumps my hand asking for more! I can't touch him anywhere else yet, just his head. But it's progress! He will walk up to the panels and let me pet him from outside the pen too. I'm in love! Lots of pics coming as soon as I get them off the camera. Amanda

Amanda:
This is the one time that I love shedding season....You get a new mustang to gentle down and they are so itchy and you can find the best places to scratch on them....I think it just helps break the ice.....Pretty soon you will have your hands ALL over him! How's his limping....getting any better?

So far no sign of strangles. I felt all up and down under his jaw, and no bumps or anything. And he LOVES getting scratches up under there, lol, so feeling around is no problem. His limping is doing tons better. I've only seen him take a couple of bad steps since he's been home. Who knows, maybe he did fall in the trailer and was just stiff and sore. He's already putting on a little weight since he has free choice hay too. More pics soon!
