I am getting so excited for the Horse Expo! I am curious, who are the Kigers that will be there for the breed demo? Lil

Dino, Debi Pretty's stallion Manny, Jackie Sigloh's stallion McCoy, and her gelding McCoy's double trouble. The same ones that were there last year. Here's a picture.

Lisa, I haven't paid much attention to the time, but Erin was telling me there's a conflict between the demo and one of the makeover time slots?

Tracy,
That would be Saturday with the Pacific Wild Horse Club and the EMM finals. From what I see is PWHC will have one or two riders and the rest are in the EMM.

Here is a picture from this years Albany Expo. Debi Pretty and Manny, Kevin Sink and Dino, Jackie Sigloh and Bandit and McCoy, and Desi is holding the raffle filly. She is so darn cute. Any body want to buy tickets? One dollar or 6 for five dollars.

I will be getting two wild horses for the trainer incentive program. That is were a trainer can get as many as four horses to train and has 90 days to find an adopter for the horses at $125 each. When the horses are adopted the trainer receives $700 from the mustang heritage foundation on each horse adopted. I will be taking these two horses to the Wild Trails horse show in Prineville July 25, 26. There will be a BLM adoption there so it shouldn't be to hard to find adopters for $125 mustangs that are trained. Spread the word, if you know anyone who wants a mustang this is an excellent chance to get a good horse. Hopefully other trainers will also be going. The best part is I get to go pick out the horses. The only criteria is the horses have to be dark colored horses as they are the last to get adopted.

Thats awesome Lisa. Im sure you'll find some great homes for the horses you get as you and Kevin do a bang up job with your horse's. The Extreme Mustang Makeover had a booth at the Road to the Horse and they had gave us a Flyer about the incentive program, it sounds really wonderful and a way to get them gentled and find good homes - I think its good for all involved. Let us know what horse's you get and how it goes.

Wow, that's great thinking outside of the box! It costs much more to feed a horse for a year than the $700, the BLM wins, the horse wins, the adopter wins and the trainer wins.

It's a terrific program; I placed 5 last summer! Hopefully the economy won't be a huge issue this year. Lisa, one of my favorite places to market last year was during our county fair. I approached the manager with the idea of having a couple of gentled mustangs there (my own, before I was doing TIP) and he wanted to know if I could do gentling demos instead. He'd been to an adoption and had been impressed with the demo. I think he had a road to the horse thought going on, though, as he wondered if I'd be riding by the end of the week? Nope, not me...too many yellow feathers on this girl, lol! But I did get a couple of geldings up there and had quite the crowd while I worked with them. In fact, after a couple of days people weren't sure I was being truthful with the "They'd never been handled before Monday" line People really ate it up, though, and it wasn't difficult at all to find homes, plus I got a list of others who were interested. If you get a few photos of other horses that are available, once you get the two you pick up adopted, you'll have something else to market right away without needing to make another trip.

Tracy that sounds like a wonderful mustang training incentive! I looked on the BLM site and saw that they will have a mustang adoption in Vermont in either June or July. I am wondering if the mustangs they bring will be the ones who were not adopted on the internet or what? Do you know? Shirley

Shirley:
You are in the eastern states jurisdiction and you would need to contact them to see what they will bring...I just got thru volunteering for the BLM adoption here in Missouri and really it was about 2 weeks before the adoption that we know kind of what herd areas they were bringing...For Missouri they either get their loads from what's being held at Elm Creek Nebraska or Ewing Illinois...I would imagine that Ewing will be where your horses come from....If you are interested I would call the BLM office in Milwaukee and talk to them....They love volunteers! Randy, Gabby, Rebecca and Dave are all super people to work with....
