I got an email from Prairie's new owner that she had a deep gash in her knee. She spent 10 days at the vets with antibiotics and is home now. I haven't seen pictures and they don't know how she got cut, vet said it didn't look like a kick. Any suggestions for helping her heal? Probiotics for sure. Was there something about millet Michele?

Good thinking with the probis after all those anitbiotics... Millet mostly helps bone but it would not hurt to give it to her, especially if any of the bone was bruised or contusioned. Flax is for soft tissue, namely tendon and ligament, but will help with muscle also. A medicinal dose would be 1/2 cup 2x/s day for each. There are other dried herbs for healing, but it would be hard to know unless we saw some picts. We have some great topical products that will really help heal well. Minimzing scar tissue and swelling is very important if it is over or around the joint. She needs to stay away from Novelsan, Iodine and Tee Tree at this point, because they both will irritate the healing tissue. www.wildmustangmud.com/

Thanks Michelle, I'll send her the link and tell her about the flax and millet. Good to know about Tea Tree Oil, I knew hydrogen peroxide was bad too.
