I am expecting one foal this year, late march or early April, sired by Kody and out of KC, my red dun mare from the 2003 internet adoption. I can hardly wait for this one!! KC is also Louie's mom, for those of you who met him at KigerFest.

Here's our list: Contora bred to Charro ~ due May 6th (Paso Fino x Kiger) Sycha bred to Desi ~ due May 9th (Kiger) Morgan bred to Charro ~ due May 12th (QH x Kiger) Nesa bred to Charro ~ due May 16th (Kiger) Chilli bred to Desi ~ due May 25th (HispanoArabe x Kiger) Momma bred to Desi ~ due June 5th (QH x Kiger) Sage is living with Charro as of the first of the year (decided to keep her with this bad economy...). She was not bred, but they have been having some moonlight romance - don't know if she is actually in heat or just a hussy because they are breeding all the time. Charro is happy as can be, BTW! Soooo, don't know if that foal will be '09 or '10! We have a seperate Board that we keep track of everything on, not busy right now, but fixen' to be with all the projects under saddle and foals on the way!! ranchobayo.proboards100.com/index.cgi

None for us this year, it will be strange not to have little ones running around. I'll have to get my fix from you guys.

Ohhh! Michelle, I can't wait to see Nesa's baby!
For those of you that don't know, Nesa was one I bid on before Xana came up. She was my favorite from the catalog.
No babies for me this year...hoping to breed my Arab mare though.

I am kind of excited about Nesas' foal too...!! I was hoping to breed a eventual "replacement" colt for Charro by him and Leza, but I am thinking that he and Nesa may be a better cross. She is carrying the foal really high like Sage did, so maybe a filly this year... ? What are you going to breed your Arab mare to? Another Arabian? What bloodlines if so? Sorry if I am being nosey, I used to breed and show them back in the day!

I will only be breeding her to Arabs. I'm hoping for as many fillies as I can get from her. She's 1/5 for fillies so far and the one was before I owned her. My mare is an El Shaklan and Ibn Zaghloul granddaughter...50% Egyptian and most of the remainder is CMK. Her pedigree can be seen at www.allbreedpedigree.com/tp+mystic+fireI'm hoping to breed her to a Carmargue son, but I'm not sure the owners are interested anymore...they don't do anything with him, he's only had 2 babies. A friend of mine is his breeder, so I know what I'm getting into. Anyways, I've got a long line of studs I'm interested in for future years. I've discovered she needs to be bred to one that has some Egyptian in him to bring out the pretty to put on the nice bodies. The one I'm most excited about is a Prince Ibn Shaikh son. My focus is performance ability, but hope they can do well enough in halter as well. I really like her 2007 colt I bred by Ali Jamaal's full brother. Suzy

Suzy, nice bloodlines. I have a "formula" for giving mares to have fillies or colts. We have not tried it yet, but know of some folks that have had like 140+ foals and fed for fillies or colts and have been successful. I can look it up and post it if you want. For fillies it is Apple Cider Vinegar (as male sperm does not live well in acidic environments) and baking soda for colts.
Sarah...I thought my mares got big!! Gooooolly!

I've heard of the apple cider vinegar thing before. I may try it when I am able to breed her next. Having 5 horses in boarding is very costly! I'd really like to give her a shot in the ring as well. She's 16 this year.
Love pregnant mare photos! Anyone else have some to share?
