Hi all!
I used to post way back when on the blue boards, but have been laying low for quite some time. I'm in Oklahoma and have 3 Kiger mares and one 3/4 Kiger/Full mustang mare.
Catalina del Applegate "Cat" (12yrs Dun) & Lazuli "Lazzy" (6 yo Grulla) both came from a breeder in Arizona.
Mari (12 yo dun) came from the 1996 adoption I believe--she came in from the wild with a healed broken shoulder and resulting club-like foot. I was told was adopted only because she was pregnant. The stresses of everything caused her to abort and she was pawned off to a trainer who put her through a "boot camp" of two weeks before pawning her off again. When I got her the owner was considering putting her down because she wasn't coming around and permanently lame. I hauled her to Oklahoma and we've finally got her over a majority of her people issues. She still has some habitual behaviors of self-protection, but we're getting there! I'm looking for an experienced barefoot trimmer who has some experience with horses that have unusual shoulder angles. In the mean time she does an amazing self trim and has probably the best looking feet of any horse I've ever seen.
(btw Mari is the horse in my avatar--isn't she gorgeous?)
And last but not least:
Rain is a 4yo 3/4 Kiger 1/4 Mustang (believe South Steens?) and is a dun tobiano.
Rain and Lazzy have both complete 90 days of training, mostly on the trails--and are doing amazing. Their trainer (Terry Lindley) has been a godsend and is totally hooked on Kigers now. She specializes in problem horses and is extremely confident and gentle. So if anyone is in the midwest and needs a good trainer who gets mustangs--she's your gal. Worth hauling for.
I've got my hands and pasture pretty full right now, but when the time is right I'd love to breed to a cremello Lusitano I've had my eyes on.
It's good to be back and to be on the trails with my girls!
Cindy ;D
