Hi Everyone: I would like to find out if there is any interest in getting Kigers into the Fiesta of the Spanish Horse. A gala event in Los Angeles CA April 30 - May 3, 2009. It is a horse show and performance of Spanish horse with all proceeds to benefit cancer research. I have been kicking around the idea of getting Kigers into the Sat. Night extravaganza for a few years. The problem is a lack of show trained Kigers and riders.
This is a classy event for a good cause. There are 3 sections we can ride in as a breed. Kigers do not have any classes in the 4 day show which draws over 300 Spanish horses. But can be on display in the barns and breed demos
My college roommate (25 yrs ago) is pushing for us to get in. She lives in Los Angeles and is a big Kiger fan (future owner) and a recent cancer survivor. She was in a Vaquero Heritage Parade group for a few years so has a magnificent Spanish costume. I want to get her a Kiger to ride in the Cancer Survivor Parade.
We could also ride in the Main Show Extravaganza and the Parade of Spanish Influence.
One of the main problems I am running into in trying to set up public demo's (of any kind)is a lack of continuity in costuming, riding styles, and showmanship with in Kiger owners. Most Kiger horse owners are not experienced showman. It makes it very difficult to participate in events of this caliber or lg parades.
I think this is an awesome opportunity for the Kigers. Is anyone interested?? The cost is minimal. There is no entry fee only stall fee's of $30.00 a day. I am willing to be the show chairman for the event. Please go to their website: www.fiestaspanishhorse.com
