Some History

I thought this link was very interesting since we've been talking about horse history, and yes, they do say that it is believed the spanish brought over there horses in the early 1500's, which is what populated America with horses. It talks of how the horse came to be from millions of years ago - Apparantly (from what the article says) they discovered a fossil a century ago and named it Eohippus "the dawn horse" and believe this was the first link in an evolutionary chain that lead to today's modern horse.

From what I've read, over the years, the first known ancestor to the horse was about the size of a large rodent. They actually used to have a scene in the Los Angeles museum of natural history depicting these animals. I don't know if they still have it, probably not.
