I was going through the AKHR web site and thought that perhaps the greybank stallion on the left side of the home page (taken by Connie Dellera) might be Argo while he was still in the wild. What do you all think? Link: www.uskigers.com[/size]

Sure looks like him, doesn't it? Maybe contact the registry and ask the photographer where/when she took it.

Boy it sure does look like him ;D. It still breaks my heart that they removed him from the HMA. Then that I was not in a position to bring him home. I wanted that big gray horse so badly. I am however pleased he did find a good retirement home.

The Photo was taken by Connie Dellera, who used to work for the BLM. I know it is a picture of a Kiger in the wild but will have to inquire as to which HMA the picture was taken on.

Just thought I'd let you know I contacted Ramona who's going to try to find the file and see if that is indeed Kiger territory. Since she doesn't work every day I'm not sure how soon we'll hear back.

DHW:
Thanks for finding out about Argo's picture. This is just too kwel!!!! Gosh he looks so beautiful in that picture....running free with his band. It would be interesting to get a DNA sample from him so you could do DNA parent verification tests to see just how many offspring he may have in domestic homes.

She won't do it. She's not interested in breeding more Kigers in captivity so in her mind it doesn't matter who his parents are, or who his offspring might be.
And really...it doesn't matter. I mean...you may want to know if he could be the daddy of one of your horses, but it doesn't change who your horse is, or how they feel about themselves. You've got the same great horse (or not) regardless of whether or not Argo is related.
So he'll remain a mystery...a Kiger ghost horse.

Kara was offended that so many hoped he would be DNA tested. I don't think that anyone meant to be offensive. Argo just has so much mystique about him, given his age and history. I think most everyone was upset that he was gathered at all and then left in the holding pens for so long. We all developed feelings about this grand senior stallion. I am so greatful for his blog and the beautiful stories about Argo and their relationship. It is special that we know who he is and can get a glimpse into his past when he led life on his own terms. He is so fortunate to have ended up in Kara's farm. Linda D

I missed something, I don't know about his blog, can someone post the link? This is the stallion that went up for auction right?

Kara, I meant no offence, I apologise if I have said anything to upset you. I was merely wondering. That is all.
