My husband and I had a quick TG dinner at his sisters house and then headed down to San Diego. He's been unemployed for about four months and I am going to be newly unemployed once again in two weeks. We are going to move out of Las Vegas and down to San Diego to be back among our home and friends. Firefly will be moving to a very nice ranch that is very much like a park setting. It used to be a Standardbred breeding/training farm so it has many arenas and has a great big (half mile I think) track. The people I met there were extremely friendly, very refreshing after the other ranches I visited where the stalls were very small and the owners were very smug and stuck on themselves. I like to test people out by telling them about this one incident where this group of guys were 'breaking' this gelding. They had forced a saddle on him and while he was trying to buck it off, they were literally whipping him with the lunge whips they had. I not only stopped them, I turned them in to the ranch for abuse and they were told if they ever did that again they would be kicked out. I watch the people's reaction because it will tell me if I want them anywhere near Firefly. The other ranches I got bad vibes from, this last one was all around a very nice feeling and I know Firefly will love it there. Live has been extremely difficult financially for about a year and a half at least. I lost my first job in September of last year when the real estate industry dropped and our company closed it's doors. I've been struggling pretty hard ever since but things are poised to turn around for us. We are starting a new business that has a very very good potential to succeed brilliantly. I'll try to keep you all posted!
Firefly is going well under saddle in a mild hackamore. She is walking the local streets with cars all around and everything. I'll try to get you all some new pictures when she sheds out her winter coat.

Yes, it's been a while. When things get real hard, I tend to clam up and pull into myself and concentrate on making it through. Things are still quite hard but we're looking at brightening our future so I'm feeling a little better. I've been working for a woman that is extremely emotionally abusive to anyone that works with/for her and I was getting the brunt of it because I was working as her assistant. I've gotten so mad that I shake and I got chest pains and all sorts of stuff. I've lost my temper with her a few times and I always dreaded going to work every morning. It will be good for my health to get away from her.

Hey, I've missed you! Sorry to hear that you are also economy struck! Me too!!!!!!!!!!!! We have jobs, but comission on nothing is nothing! Without jobs and insurance people don't use my services or pay their bills so on and so on. I will sell my horses if I can place them well. I am fearful that at some point I won't be able to scrimp by. We are depleted. I am so glad that you have been able to keep Firefly. Hope that things are turning around for you! Looking forward to seeing photos of Firefly all grown up. Linda D

At the ranch, people seem to be selling their horses left and right. I have a very good friend at the ranch who owns two mustangs and recently was given another horse because the fellow couldn't care for it anymore. He's struggling hard boarding three horses but so far he says he's making it. Life is very hard for all of us right now it seems. Hopefully it will begin to turn around with the new year. I sure hope you don't have to sell your horses. As soon as the weather gets warmer and Firefly doesn't look like a miniature buffalo, I'll trade you pictures. I will be moving her to San Diego when I can. That will be somewhat hard on her because she has three boyfriends at this ranch... My friend's two mustangs and the pinto that was given to him... She loves to run with the boys. At the place she's moving to, she will have more a pen and less a stall. She loves to play in her stall so a bigger place will be better for her. Just wish I could move my friend and his horses right along with us. He's really an awesome fellow.
